AC Milan were hoping to have Matteo Gabbia back this weekend, but it seems that the defender will be absent once again.
After being withdrawn from the starting XI before kick-off, Gabbia underwent tests to determine the problem, and thankfully, any serious injury was ruled out quite quickly. However, that does not mean that he is completely fine.
Instead, reports yesterday suggested that the Milan medical staff were reluctant to rush him back into work, with him training alone on a personalised programme. Unfortunately, today’s update is not really a significant or promising one.
Gabbia’s situation
As MilanNews writes, it is ‘increasingly unlikely’ that he will feature in Sunday’s game against Cremonese, and with the game against Inter next weekend, the chances of him being risked get much lower.
Thankfully, Massimiliano Allegri has Koni De Winter and Davide Bartesaghi to rely upon, if he needs to. So, it seems difficult to imagine a situation where the Rossoneri are forced to take a risk.

Either way, Allegri will want to have his core defender back as soon as the medical team allow him to return. With another week of training, which may already be planning for the derby, he could hope to be back.

Seems once Pulisic and Gabbia got injured, we haven’t been doing as well.
