Cristao: Fonseca brings back ‘double sessions’ to get Milan squad ready

By Isak Möller -

Double sessions have made a return to Milanello, i.e. two training sessions per day, and this is a direct order from Paulo Fonseca. As a report highlights, this is one of his ways to get the squad ready for the 2024-25 season.

When Stefano Pioli was in charge of the club, Milan usually had a training session in the morning before lunch with the entire team. As reported by Simone Cristao, however, Fonseca has now brought back the double session to the training ground.

Today will be the first day with a double session, one in the morning and one in the evening, and there will be six of these in the next 12 days. Of course, this is a way to accelerate the team’s return to top condition ahead of the 2024-25 season.

This extra time will also give Fonseca more time to explain his tactical ideas and the playing style he wants for the Rossoneri. Only time will tell if this change will have the desired effect, but it’s clear that the Portuguese manager is eager to get his principles in place.

The first friendly of the season is scheduled for next Saturday, taking on Rapid Wien in Austria.
