The Croatian national team coach Zlatko Dalic believes that Luka Modric will make the right decision when it comes to his future.
In the early hours of this morning, Croatia took to the field in Orlando, Florida to face Colombia in a friendly, which they won 2-1. Their captain Modric started from the bench and only came on for the final 10 minutes of the match.
This is good news for Milan and for Massimiliano Allegri, who will not doubt be very grateful for this extra rest for the 40-year-old. It’s likely to be a different story in Tuesday’s friendly against Brazil, where Modric will almost certainly start given the profile of the game.
Meanwhile, his national team coach Dalic spoke at a press conference and was asked about the future of the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, amid the talk of doing another year at Milan or even retiring. His words were reported by Sportske Novosti, and relayed by MilanNews.
Will Modrić play his last World Cup? Will he continue playing for the national team?
“Luka knows better than anyone what he will do and how he will continue. He is our captain, our guide, and our leader. Many times he was written off, but he is unique and unrepeatable. I hope he will help us achieve great things again at the World Cup.”
