Crotone director insists Messias is a Milan-level player: “Next year he will be important”

The sporting director of Crotone – Giuseppe Ursino – has insisted that Junior Messias is a player worthy of AC Milan, seemingly pre-empting his permanent move.

Messias arrived on deadline day of the last summer transfer window on a loan with option to buy deal from Crotone who had been relegated to Serie B. He struggled for playing time due to injuries but in the second half of the season he has claimed a starting spot, with six goals in a Milan shirt so far.

However, there are doubts about his stay beyond the current season because his performances of late have been inconsistent and the management are looking for an upgrade in the right wing position, plus there is strong talk of a takeover bid that could see bigger-name players sought.

Ursino spoke about the Scudetto race during an interview with TMW and he also spoke about the future of the Brazilian winger.

Who will win the Scudetto?

“It will be decided at the last championship. There are no favorites. I can be biased because Messias is at Milan, but on paper Inter are favourites,” he said.

“Messias? He did well, but he can give even more”.

Nobody imagined he could go to Milan…

“This is it. But I still thought he would go to a great team. I saw him play. He is worthy of Milan and next year he will be important.”
