CaughtOffside: Romano explains why Chelsea stopped striker joining Milan this summer

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan had verbal contact with both the representatives of Armando Broja as well as Chelsea as the Rossoneri tried to make a deal stick for the Albanian.

Talking to CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano discussed how close Milan came to signing Broja from the Premier League side towards the end of the summer.

Milan were desperate to sign a striker towards the end of the summer transfer window and Broja looked like a very plausible signing at one stage.

Despite there being lots of contact between Milan and the player, as well as Chelsea, the Blues stopped any further contact when the club and Mauricio Pochettino decided Broja had too much potential to be allowed to leave.

Milan ended up buying Luka Jovic from Fiorentina on deadline day and the Serbian signed a one-year deal.

He may get the chance to show what he can do against Cagliari with Olivier Giroud expected to be rested.
