Curva Sud thank Maldini for his work and repeat strong message to Milan owners

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s Curva Sud have commented on the dismissal of Paolo Maldini, thanking him for his service and showing their appreciation for the work he did.

It has been a chaotic 48 hours at AC Milan with the news that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been sacked from their positions as the technical and sporting director, sparking what many are calling a new era at the club.

Maldini departs after five years back with the Rossoneri and four years as the head of the technical area, and with a Scudetto, three Champions League qualifications plus a semi-final appearance to show.

Now, the Curva Sud have expressed their opinion on the news of Maldini’s exit with press release published by the fan group on their social media accounts, relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“Regarding the events of the last few days, we would like to sincerely thank Paolo for the work he has done over the years,” it began.

“Making up the relationship that was interrupted on the day of the farewell to football was certainly the most beautiful passage of the path lived together in recent seasons, which brought Milan back to winning in Italy and to be competitive in Europe.

“And a large part of these results must certainly be ascribed to Paolo and to the tireless work done, always distinguished by the love for our colours. A sacking will never erase Paolo Maldini’s history with the Rossoneri, a great captain on the pitch and an example of Milanism for all of us.

“We don’t go into the merits of corporate choices, it’s not up to us to make assessments on the work of managers, coaches and players. We expressed our thoughts clearly with a banner on the last day of the season: SOCIETY: WE WANT THE LEAP IN QUALITY!

“This must be the only objective of the owners and of those who will take care of the technical area from today, to build a strong team capable of fighting on all fronts, because the good of our colors comes and will always come first! WITH AC MILAN IN THE HEART, ALWAYS!”

  1. But they will stick with Moneyball
To make money for themselves of course, while we become bloody Arsenal
I want the 8th, and not wait decades and decades for that

    1. Did you see any Milanisti with a billion to spare and buy Milan? I didn’t. But Americans came and cleaned up our balance sheets and cleared our debts, while our beloved “Godfather” Berlusconi ran the club into the ground. So yeah, MoneyBall.

      1. Oh the Americans came to our rescue. Are you on their payrole?
Berlusconi left the club as he recieved it, in ruins, correct.

But Jerry hasn’t done one good thing for ACM, and there were other potential buyers last summer. I remember some Arabs that actually had the money, not like broke Jerry.

ACM is becoming the new Udinese, Touluse or Brentford, regardless of what you bootlikers say.

    2. You already said that when gazidiz still CEO . But until gazidiz out , none of our key player get sold for high price , only free transfer. You judge them basic on your hate

  2. Oh please Curva. I’ve never liked them since they disrespected Maldini on his retirement day. Their affection for him now is fake. Don’t care if it’s a different curva by now, I’ve never seen them come forward with an apology for that section. They’re a walking contradiction. ” it’s not up to us to make assessments on the work of managers, coaches and players. ” Yet they have a banner saying they want a step up in quality. Isn’t that an assessment in and of itself? They make assessments all the time but we know the their past with Maldini so they won’t go further. F out of here curva.

  3. This statement from curva is very weak ,you know that these owners will not spend money but instead they will sell the best players and make money
    Very disappointed with your statement
Ac milan is finished guys with such fans we will be relegeted to second division
Thanks maldini for the nice moments

    1. Your belief in AC Milan is what’s weak… Milan’s been around since 1899, long before Maldini and will remain long after Maldini. Serie B? Seriously? Dramatic much?

    2. With all due respect, I think it’s highly premature and a gross overreaction to conclude that AC Milan are “finished” and “will be relegated to the second division.” Milanista mustn’t conflate identity with competence in this case. Maldini was Mr. Milan – a club legend and revered symbol of what AC Milan has meant to its supporters over many decades – a link to its glory days of the 80’s, 90s and noughties and, through his father Cesare, to AC Milan’s very first European Cup triumph in 1963. The manner of his removal by Redbird was brutal – a dagger struck at the heart of AC Milan’s sense of identity and its aristocratic lineage. Given all that Maldini represents culturally, surely he could have been kicked sideways or upstairs instead of being kicked out of the club altogether? The other issue here, however, is competence. Maldini did a great job to help lift AC Milan from its decade-long doldrums and win the Scudetto in 2021/22 and qualify in recent years for the Champions League, where the club have always historically belonged. That said, the team’s results in 2022/23, whilst superficially creditable, were actually quite poor, especially relative to Napoli and Lazio; we went backwards while those two clubs overtook us. AC Milan did well in the Champions League, but we were in the much easier half of the draw during the knock-out phase, and the performance against Inter in the semi-final was abysmal. Maldini clearly had a bad mercato last summer; with smarter recruitment with the funds made available to him, he could have resourced the team better for the campaigns in both Serie A and the Champions League. CDK, on whom 35m was lavished, may well come good in due course, but he was of no use whatsoever in 2022/23; likewise, with Origi – another flop. Whilst it’s sad to see Maldini go, Milanista shouldn’t draw adverse conclusions about the owners from this move until we learn who they appoint to replace him and what funds are expended during the summer to strengthen the squad, and on whom. Then and only then can we conclude with some objective certainty if Maldini’s exit was a negative or a positive step. Let’s wait and see, therefore, what happens over the next few months. I don’t think Redbird are just about making money from their ownership of AC Milan; they, like all Milanista, need the club also to achieve success on the pitch.

    3. Curva means sl*t,who*e…and you can see why now and back than when they were cursing Paolo,Andrea, and others…they are only a bunch of clueless ignorants that would sell the club and the simbols of the club in favour of their ego and protecting their free places to the games and “managing” the rest of the tickets destined to the ultras gifted by the club…Pretty sure all they are doing now is just negociating with the new management(all the puberty victims) their places…and thats pretty much around 20 wanks or so…I been between these so called curvas and they are nothing but a bunch of clowns with no integrity and no respect for this club…selling those tickets to the rest of the ultras is more or less their income…thats all their love to this club

  4. Curva is right – Milan above all! All those that cry like little bitches that Maldini left need to grow a pair of balls and suck it up. Everyone is a keyboard warrior but knows zero about business and running a club like Milan. Seems to me that Maldini was trying to run Milan like he owned it and he was ignoring a lot of people – including Pioli who is the coach.

    1. I’m with you. I don’t get all the negative sentiment here. If you Love Maldini – You love Milan. If you support Maldini – You support Milan. There was Milan without Maldini and there will continue to be a Milan after Maldini. SO support the club, the crest and colors, not management. RedBird didn’t shell out over a billion to fail. Give them a chance. FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴

    2. That’s redbird propaganda, don’t you get it. Redibird is out full force today in bashing maldini and praising redbird’s vision. Gotta hear the other side in order to make a judgement. And frankly all dilema started at that 35mil budget for this window which was confirmed by the club itslef. I’m suprised at most of the fans here that are ok with we will be so good and improve so much with and we 35mil to proove it. # redbirdout

  5. Sometimes I am really jealous of what good owners clubs like Juventus, Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio have..
Italians that do business but are passionate about football and their clubs

I am truly disappointed but I will try to give Cardinale a chance during this mercato
If nothing will come, then after long 16 years I will probably stop watching football. I’ve been here during Berlusconi’s downfall, Yongong Li etc..
But this is getting too much. I finally had hope with Milan with the work that Maldini did but sacking him was like a kick in the balls

    1. Bro, Juventus just got docked 10 points for cheating, got off easy in another cheating trial, and cheated 15 years ago, and are constantly cheating. Never again say we need an ownership like Juventus. Also, let’s not get carried away. I’ve been a Milan fan since 1991 and have seen lots of ups and downs. There is always tomorrow. Also think of all the fans of all the clubs that have never won a thing.

  6. Juventus “cheating” this year was so ridiculously mild and overpenalized… they didn’t do anything that crazy that every single big team has been doing. They just got caught and it’s not even that bad and the punishment was way worse than the crime. I know we all love when juve and inter get punished myself included but objectively it was unfair and we are very very lucky..

    1. Mmm, stating that $X was being paid to players on company financial statements and then paying $Y is financial fraud. It’s a publicly traded company. It was done to circumvent FFP requirements (add to that they were under a Settlement Agreement with UEFA too). The 10 point docking was for the plusvalenza farce, the penalty for this was a minor 700k which they will make from ticket sales in one game.

  7. Well curva is saying what maldini was saying and what we are saying. We need reinforcement on a few depratments. Again, 35 mil, wth. What can possibly get with that money. Moneyball!!! More like goofball. Again, no1 is asking for turning into Chelsea but at least reasonable spending with going in the red. Time will tell, maybe we are all wrong but with that kind of money, the truth is, we cant get far. # redbirdout.

  8. #Curvaout too?

Stop your delusional reasoning already. Are a more patriotic fan than these guys? Do you know the way the San Siro?

  9. i think this is a nice & fair comment by the curva to Maldini, to owner & to fellow fans.

    – “Making up the relationship that was interrupted on the day of the farewell to football was certainly the most beautiful passage of the path lived together in recent seasons, which brought Milan back to winning in Italy and to be competitive in Europe. –
—> the curva have buried the incident between them & Maldini that happened on Maldini’s farewell day as a player. because for the past five years since Maldini back again to Milan, the curva & Maldini have been in line very well.
with Milan winning the league again & becoming competitive again in Europe.

    – “And a large part of these results must certainly be ascribed to Paolo and to the tireless work done, always distinguished by the love for our colours. A sacking will never erase Paolo Maldini’s history with the Rossoneri, a great captain on the pitch and an example of Milanism for all of us. –
—> this is a very nice compliment from curva to Maldini.

    – “We don’t go into the merits of corporate choices, it’s not up to us to make assessments on the work of managers, coaches and players. We expressed our thoughts clearly with a banner on the last day of the season: SOCIETY: WE WANT THE LEAP IN QUALITY! –
—> they don’t want to interfere in the internal affairs of the owners, team management, coaches & players, because that is not the curva (fans) duty, they only expect quality, i.e. they want strong team that brings good results on the pitch.
and that’s fair in my opinion as a football club fan.
in sports there are always winners and losers.
if a team has done all they can but still lose, fans can see that & will still appreciate the team despite the defeat.
rather than being the champions but the results achieved are by bribing referees, adjusting scores, and making fake books.

    – because the good of our colors comes and will always come first! WITH AC MILAN IN THE HEART, ALWAYS!” –
—> as AC Milan fans i’m 100% with this

  10. Curva’s statements are fair and well said.
Why would fans protest the choices in management? Makes no sense. Protest only should happen if the management makes decisions that are detrimental to the club. Fans are frustrated and angered for sure. But the anger doesn’t come because of the love for maldini. It’s because the decision is irrational and has no valid reasons. There are no official statement either? Why so much disrespect exactly? An owner can definitely decide to fire his employee, it’s in his rights. But a valid reason should be there.. and it should have at least some Merit.
