Daily Mail: James Rodriguez not part of Everton’s plans – Milan the most likely destination

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are the club most likely to land James Rodriguez who is destined to leave Everton this summer, according to a report.

The Daily Mail in England (via MilanNews) writes that James Rodriguez is not part of new manager Rafa Benitez’s plans and as a result he is set to leave Everton after just one season, with Milan the most likely destination at present for the Colombia international.

It has been a difficult summer for the 29-year-old playmaker, who was excluded from the national team squad for the Copa America and is now forced to look for a new destination after Carlo Ancelotti’s farewell.

Milan could be a good fit given that they are in need of a new attacking midfielder of experience and quality after the departure of Hakan Calhanoglu, and the circumstances surrounding James suggest that the economic parameters of the operations should not be too challenging.

  1. Currently earns about €5m after tax, so a 2-year deal for the tax breaks in Italy would cost Milan ~€14m in total. This one seems a lot more affordable than Ziyech and would be available for a lot less than Vlasic.
