Many of Milan’s new signings have started the season very well, once again proving that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have a precise system in place. Diogo Dalot is the latest player to shine for the Rossoneri.

The 21-year-old was brought in from Man Utd on a dry loan a few days before the window closed, filling the gap left by Diego Laxalt. His versatility is important for Stefano Pioli, who has previously lacked good depth on the full-back positions.

Last time out, in the game against Sparta Praha, Dalot played from start on the left-hand side, allowing Theo Hernandez some much-needed rest. He certainly didn’t disappoint, scoring one goal and also bagging a gorgeous assist.

In an interview with Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews.it, the Portuguese youngster spoke about the game and how the start has been for him. He also praised Pioli, who has been the mastermind behind Milan’s resurgence in the last few months.

On Sparta game: “I’m a happy man. We had a great performance, we got the victory. Then personally I put in a goal and an assist. I’m satisfied at the highest level.”

On his physical condition: “I’m working hard, I’m looking for the way to get back to the top and I feel I can improve. But above all I’m in the right place: here at Milan I found myself very well.”

On Pioli: “He’s more than a guide on the bench. Pioli is our captain. He has a fantastic way of leading the team and motivating every single player. He makes us all hungry because he involves us all, each of us feels we have an opportunity with him.”

On his loan deadline: “Let’s see what will happen at the end of the season. For now, I don’t want to think about it: I’m 100% focused on Milan and that’s it.”

On Milan’s potential: “The team is fantastic: the numbers speak for themselves. So far we have found good results, there is a good atmosphere when we train and the same team spirit. We do not limit ourselves, we have everything we need to keep growing.”
