Diogo Dalot has spared some flattering words for AC Milan in what could be a strong hint that he wants to return to the club.
Milan still have some positions to fill before the transfer window closes and one of them is right-back, as Stefano Pioli wants an alternative to Davide Calabria. A number of sources have reported that Milan want Dalot back after his loan spell at the club last season, during which he proved to be a versatile option.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported yesterday that the Rossoneri are going back and forth with Manchester United in negotiations over the return of the 22-year-old, adding how there is no doubt that eventually Dalot will return to Milan in the end.
Now, Dalot has spoken to Manchester United’s official website about the upcoming season and included a reflection on his time with the Diavolo, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.
Targets for next season: “I want to keep growing. After a season like last, we start to expect more and more. I want to keep playing, to give everything I have and to improve. I know last season was fantastic but I can do even better.”
His season at Milan: “It was perfect, my goal was to put minutes on my legs and get back in shape, and I succeeded. I was one of the few AC Milan players who was available for all matches. I met some great people in Milan and it was very nice.
“Each season you learn more, not just about yourself, but about life, football and other experiences as well. The chance to play in such an important league has given me a lot, not only from a footballing point of view, but also for my life itself. I am very happy with what I did last season.”
On playing for the Portuguese national team: “This was one of the best summers of my life. With the under 21 team we did a great European Championships, we deserved to win but we didn’t succeed. And then the call to the senior national team, which I didn’t expect at all, was the culmination of a dream. It was great to be a part of it.”
