CM.it: Milan’s interest in Benfica striker remains but price and competition provide obstacles

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in signing Darwin Nunez from Benfica but there are worries that the asking price is getting out of reach, a report claims.

Calciomercato.it confirm that the Rossoneri are keen on signing Nunez as they look to make an investment in a centre-forward for the future, but the amount that Benfica are asking for is around €60-65m, which would enable them to obtain a capital gain of around €40m.

Inter have already tried a first approach to the player which is an obstacle for Milan, but Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United are all keen, while Newcastle and West Ham are in the running too.

Nunez has been compared to Edinson Cavani, his compatriot, and he has already made his debut with his senior national team, scoring his first goal in official matches against Colombia in November 2020.

Milan have been warned that to make a signing like this an important outlay will be needed, but that’s what it may well take to solve the problem in attack in view of next season.
