AC Milan have officially confirmed that they have sold defender Davide Calabria to Bologna, ending his long bond with the club.
Milan have decided to part ways with Calabria given that his contract was set to expire at the end of the season with no sign of a renewal, and a number of clubs were linked with a move for him.
It became apparent over the weekend that Bologna were the side who had got a deal lined up. Calabria left Milanello on Saturday and understandably he was very emotional, but also stated that a new chapter has begun for him.
A statement on the official website reads as follows: “AC Milan announces that it has sold the sporting services of the footballer Davide Calabria to Bologna FC.
“The club thanks Davide for his commitment, professionalism and dedication always demonstrated during his 18 years in the red and black, and wishes him the best personal and sporting satisfaction.”
It was reported by Sky among other sources that Bologna will not pay a high fee for the signing of Calabria because of the fact his deal only had a few months left, with talk of it being around the €2m figure.
Other teams reluctantly sell their academy graduates to raise FFP capital gains.
We push ours out the door.
Important player in our recent history, might not always have been the star talent but always worked hard for his place and for the team and often managed to get his place back despite whichever replacement for him had been signed that year.
Thanks Davide
Yeah, he know what it mean to represent the shirt, despite his skills, I prefer we don’t sell him actually.
Thanks for your service Calabria, wish you all the best
Terrible business. Give him a new contract then sell him for 20 mil in the summer and make a 20 mil capital gain in the books. If hes not playing and clashes with the coach he knows he have to leave anway. If he refuse, worst case scenario you have him as a backup to Walker/Jimenez
Not worse then having Florenzi or Terracciano as backups like we had going into this season….
It’s weird his leaving… but let’s be honest, now there is Walker and Jimenez looks also like bettee options… if he stay, he is third options .. this is the reason why is better his departure
“there is walker”
like he is any better. the guy is 34 ffs.
now the longest serving players are gabbia (debuted in 2019), theo, leao, bennacer. all joined in 2019. nobody else has been in the squad longer than 4yr.
talk about continuity. this management and coaching staff are leading milan to mediocrity.
Why do we strengthen a direct rival for the top 4th spot for so little money is beyond me
Guess that the management know they can never catch Napoli. Napoli compete for the title with Inter. We compete for the 5th spot with Bologna and Fiorentina….. so they arent a direct competator for us. Zlatan and Moncada probably think Okafor will be as bad for Napoli as he is for us….
