DAZN: Pioli rejects advance from Premier League side after Milan departure

By Euan Burns -

Former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has rejected an offer from Premier League side Nottingham Forest as he carefully chooses what his next job will be.

As has been reported by DAZN (via Radio Rossonera), Pioli is not going to be rushed into taking a new job, as shown by his distancing from the host of Serie A jobs that became available and now this offer from Nottingham Forest.

Pioli spent four and a half years as the Milan coach and he is now seeking a new challenge. He has not said that he needs a break from the game, but he is also not taking the first job that comes along.

The report claims that Pioli does not find the Forest job very interesting from a technical perspective, with the team finishing 17th in the Premier League last season under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Both Bologna and Napoli seemed very keen on hiring Pioli as the new coach but the Emilians have chosen Vincenzo Italiano and Napoli managed to get Antonio Conte.

With the likes of Fiorentina, Monza and Lazio having already secured new coaches, it is not clear whether there will be an option in Serie A for Pioli this summer.

  1. All he as to do is to wait for a big club to do badly during the season and his profile is going to come into play (stabilizer, able to work in a big club, trophy winner, UCL semis). He has time to get a decent job

  2. Delusions of grandeur. He thinks he is too big for a team like Forest. I’d love to be present when realization that he is more Pistoiese or Cosenza lvl hits him.

    1. Or maybe he just wants to take a temp break from coaching job and enjoyed some vacations with his wife and family without headache from his job. The guy almost 60 years old and he had enough money to take a vacation.

Seriously. I just don’t get why you and some people in here always has hostile opinion for Pioli. Did Pioli stole your candy or something? Please grow up.

      1. I agree. What he did to Leao, Theo, Bennaccer, even Kessie, he deserves our respect. Even the players put their respect to him. What valid reason to disrespect him…

    2. He won milan a scudetto after a decade and while he may not be on the a list coaches he is not Nottingham level either,I think right now his level is fit for the likes of aroma and Tottenham teams that are fighting for ucl but those jobs are taken

    3. Really. He just coached one of the biggest clubs of all-time and led them to a Scudetto and semi-finals of Champions League. What have you ever done with your life to talk sh*t about him. Who really has delusions of grandeur?

  3. It is not surprising Pioli is not a good coach. He lacks the ability to make in-game decisions. He is really bad at integrating young players into a squad. I don’t blame other teams for not taking him on.

  4. Still think Pauli did a good job. Seems the players agreed with me. They should have at least given him the final year.

      1. Yes, the French Pioli, Pauli is going to coach some French team after his experience with half of the tema cames from France and of course Moncada is the one that will find that spot for him XD

  5. Why would he go to Forest to fight relegation? Makes zero sense. Then again, Ancelotti went to Everton in a bizarre move, so who knows? Most likely he will end up at Lazio, Roma, Napoli or Fiorentina, whichever fires their coach first.
