DAZN: Theo to miss Fiorentina game due to a misunderstanding – the reconstruction

Theo Hernandez will miss the game against Fiorentina after the international break because of a booking that was certainly rather perplexing.

Theo scored the opening goal during Milan’s 3-1 win away from home against Hellas Verona this afternoon, and once the celebrations were done he was shown a yellow card which means he is now suspended for the next league match.

DAZN (via MilanNews) have provided a reconstruction of what happened, given that Theo simply shrugged in front of the camera as he always does and did not seem to do anything to warrant a booking.

They state that the Verona team manager misunderstood the gesture, finding it provocative, and thus he alerted their head coach Marco Baroni, who ran towards the fourth official Massimi to report the incident.

Theo noticed the situation and mimed ‘let’s talk later’ towards the Verona staff and bench. The referee clearly had not understood the incident and gave a caution to Theo, who was incredulous.

Theo then goes to clarify himself with Baroni, specifying that that is his usual celebration. The Hellas coach, having understood his mistake, apologised to the full-back. But the damage is done: now Theo Hernandez will miss the trip to Florence.
