CM: Hoefkens makes a bold call regarding De Ketelaere amid offers from Milan and Leeds

AC Milan are retaining hope that eventually their pressure will result in Charles De Ketelaere joining them, and an important signal has arrived.

The Belgian attacking midfielder has not been called up by Cub Brugge head coach Carl Hoefkens for their first game of the season, which will take place today at home against Genk with kick-off at 13:30 CEST. Not only that, but last Sunday the 21-year-old remained on the bench for all 90 minutes of the Belgian Super Cup against Gent.

Calciomercato.com report that is still a gap between the €35m plus bonuses requested by Brugge and the €30m plus €2m in bonuses offered by Milan, with Leeds United having put forward a bid of €37m.

Milan have already reached an agreement with De Ketelaere over a five-year contract until June 2027 with a salary of €2.5m net per year. At the same time, the Rossoneri management are keeping some alternative options open, such Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea.
