GdS: De Ketelaere has not lost his place in the pecking order but Pioli now expects more

By Oliver Fisher -

Charles De Ketelaere has just about put his frustrating muscle injury behind him and is gearing up for a return, with AC Milan looking for answers from him.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that De Ketelaere has shaken off his problem and should be available to Stefano Pioli for Saturday’s match against Monza. Not only that, but the Belgian is also expected start in the role of attacking midfielder.

After a first part of the season in which he played a lot but didn’t manage to contribute with the end product he would like, now the time has come for De Ketelaere to change pace. He arrived in the summer for €35m from Club Brugge, and the paper states that he must enter the field with more courage and must be more decisive in the final third.

Despite the injury and the run of three straight league wins, De Ketelaere has not lost his place in the hierarchies of Pioli and should be the starting playmaker against Monza. Brahim Diaz did very well against Juventus, but he and Yacine Aldi struggled in Verona, so CDK will be given a chance at the weekend.

  1. Im seriously starting to get tired of this bs regarding de ketelaere under performing as he would have had minimum 5 assists by now had it not been for his team mates lacklustre finishing.
This notion put forward by some milan fans and especially the media is outright counter productive and if anything de ketelaere has been one of the additions in the last 5 years that has acclimatized to the new inviroment the fastest and with the greatest promise.

    1. 100% agree.
makes me remember all the made believe futbol coaches and fakes fans for the last couple of years.
#pioliout, now pioli is on fire.
#leaoout, now pay him whatever he wants.
#tonaliout, now he is the engine of our team.
just give the kid some time, and im sure he’ll do great things.

      1. I think the same “fans” still hate them, I still see comments saying Pioli is stupid, Leao is lazy, and Tonali is overrated.

        #fakefansout

        1. Pioli is doing a great job, Leao IS lazy (was he even on the pitch in the second half vs Verona), and Tonali is good, far from great.
          Blinded by being a #fanboyout

        2. Agree leao is lazy. Granted when makes runs he is basically unstoppable. But the work rate on leao is laughable. Just watch when he loses the ball, he smiles looks up and eventually walks back to his position.

I am torn between keeping him or getting a huge pay day from a sale.
