GdS: De Ketelaere, Ziyech, Asensio and Dybala – the changing scenarios of Milan’s market

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking at ways to strengthen their attack ahead of 2022-23 and they continue to have Charles De Ketelaere, Hakim Ziyech and Marco Asensio on their list.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that De Ketelaere is the number one target at the moment as he is a profile perfectly in line with the club’s philosophy given his potential, his characteristics and his low salary. The obstacle is the cost of the transfer fee given Milan want to offer €30m while Brugge want €35m.

The latest twist is that Vedat Muriqi – who was expected to arrive and replace the Belgian – will now not arrive because of ‘unsatisfactory medical examinations’. It should not affect the De Ketelaere-Milan talks too much because Brugge have alternative targets.

The Ziyech issue is more interesting. The Moroccan is currently the alternative to De Ketelaere, although it cannot be ruled out that Milan may be able to sign both. Ziyech yesterday left the Nakhli Mondial agency and will only be assisted in the negotiations by lawyers.

It means that zero commissions (or almost) should be involved in the deal, but Ziyech’s salary is already high enough at between €5-6m net per year. Then there is the formula: Milan would like a loan with option but the Growth Decree tax relief scheme could make a difference.

Then there is Marco Asensio who Stefano Pioli likes, but the €7m net salary he is asking for is enormous. The Real Madrid playmaker now seems open to a reduction in those requests to expand is market, the same route that Paulo Dybala has had to go, who is attracting interest from Inter with Milan in the background.

  1. So there are two things which this article says we can’t afford fees of 30 to 35m fair enough neither we can afford salary of around 5 to 7 m pa… the bottom line is we simply don’t have enough resources to get us over the line then we expect to compete on all front this season..we lost kessie no replacement but if somebody will say adli or pobega plz guys for heavens sake kessie was much better in handling pressure of wearing milan shirt….i guess we were better off in holding two lost pieces of alessio and kessie than adding others….we are literally becoming a begging bowl then we expect pioli and m&m to perform better

  2. Milan can not afford to buy players with more than €20M market value, and also can not afford to pay more than €4M to a player no matter how good he is even if he is free agent. So Milan Fans, stop expecting best players to come that way. Adli, Messias and Pobega are the new signings. Period!!!

    1. Milan is doing fantastic job on the market. If they dont want to throw money around its a good thing not bad. Milan can afford 35 I am sure but why should it if it is possible not to! Why should we pay salary of 7m if we can pay 3 or 4? Remember also — there is economic crisis coming. Prices already going down look at Dybala.

  3. Sign them both . That will upgrade AMF and RW. Ziyech just loan so chelsea will pay half of his salary. CDK just offer jungdal/roback + cash 25m euro to brugge. Priority to AMF and RW. CB and DMF can wait later

  4. Jungdal and Roback? then just 15-20 mio. Strong talents both! But growing in Miano is a different story (from Auba to Locatelli)
First, i am super happy that we not bid for a di maria and stuff like that, i like to see a ramsey, bale, baka getting super rich on bench 🙂
Second, Milan cannot bid for a Nunez, Tchouameni, Richarlison, even not for Bergwijn, Hickey, Botmann or Christensen. But what next? Nico Schlotterbeck moved for 25mio to Dortmund, Since Nesta none in italy has seen such a CB
