Aurelio De Laurentiis is still looking for a new coach for Napoli, and Massimiliano Allegri’s name is on his list.
Despite all of the talk that Gerry Cardinale is ready to give his full backing to Allegri and that the coach himself also wants to stay, there have also been a number of stories suggesting that Napoli are back in for him again, having tried several times before.

Napoli in for Allegri: The situation
Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanPress) reports that Maurizio Sarri is the first name for the post-Conte era. However, it turns out that the Lazio boss is seriously evaluating Atalanta’s offer too, something De Laurentiis did not take well despite having given Sarri a few more days to decide.
Given the disappointment, De Laurentiis has returned to thinking about Allegri, who he had also sought last year before he chose Milan and Conte chose to stay. It is a very complicated path because the Rossoneri do not intend to part ways with the coach.
In addition to that, Allegri wants to respect his contract (which will extend until 2028 in the event of Champions League qualification) and continue with his second spell at the Rossoneri.
So, Napoli are likely to have to turn elsewhere. Vincenzo Italiano’s candidacy is rising, having also been sought in the past. Just like with Milan and Allegri, though, the Rossoblu do not want to let him go.
