De Winter gives credit to Lazio but bemoans amount of ‘technical mistakes’ from Milan

Koni De Winter has admitted that a poor first half technically cost AC Milan in their defeat to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

For the second time this season Milan went down 1-0 against Lazio away from home, this time in the league after the Coppa Italia exit late last year. The damage is just as great if not greater this time around, with the faint Scudetto hopes having been dealt a big blow after last week’s derby win.

Massimiliano Allegri was not too negative in his assessment after the game, but it was a frustrating night in which there were even arguments within the team on what was a night that went far from how it was designed.

De Winter was interviewed by Milan TV (via MilanNews) following this evening’s 1-0 defeat to Lazio in the capital, and he shared his thoughts on the game.

What was missing today?

“I think we made a lot of technical mistakes in the first half. But a lot of credit goes to them for playing a good game. We recovered in the second half, but the goal didn’t come: the game is over now, and we’re looking forward.”

Now what should you look at?

“We’ll approach the league the same way as always: we’ll try to collect as many points as possible and see where we end up.”
