GdS: Delays expected in Ibrahimovic’s recovery – he may return after international break

There is the possibility that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to full fitness could take a bit longer than expected, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Ibrahimovic’s target has been clear since June 18, the day when he had his knee operated on: he wants to be back for the first game of the season on August 23 against Sampdoria. However, that hypothesis is fading quickly as he has not yet started running again on the fields of Milanello, with the medical staff determined not to rush things and risk further damage.

It seems that it is nearly impossible for the 39-year-old to be available for the Samp game, but now any chance of featuring against Cagliari at San Siro is also at risk. After the second round there is an international break however, so it could be that the medical staff give the go-ahead for his return after that.

The Swede is working hard in the gym to get back to playing as soon as possible, but it will still take some patience to get back to doing what he likes best.
