Longo: A ‘delicate’ situation – Theo could be entering his ‘last months’ at Milan

Theo Hernandez’s contract renewal has been a heavy focus in recent months, and whilst updates have offered wavering confidence, AC Milan could be seeing the last few months of the player.

The situation with Theo is a confusing one. Reports have extensively suggested that both parties want to continue together, but there has been a clear drop-off in performances from the Frenchman, and there is a problem.

As has been widely reported, Hernandez is asking for a contract that would make him among the highest earners at the club – for the Frenchman of old, fair enough, but this is the issue, where is that player?

On Friday, he struggled once again, and this is not a rare occurrence, but rather a worrying consistency which is showing no signs of stopping yet.

For this reason, it would be difficult for Milan to offer the 27-year-old a deal like the one he is requesting, simply due to value. At present, it is only dropping to the Rossoneri, and with his contract getting closer to expiry, a decision must be made.

Due to these factors, Daniele Longo has suggested that this could be the last months of Theo with the Diavolo, as his contract situation is increasingly ‘delicate’.

It is also worth noting that this was referenced in a piece about the January mercato, and whilst it is highly improbable that he would depart during mid-season, the club could look for a deputy/replacement.

  1. They will finish spots below European qualifications. So they will give their best to sell players to gain money.
There is Adli on loan to be sold, Kalulu, Pobega, with some youngsters. Theo and Maignan are without new contract.
They will consider selling Theo for 30 – 40 and put blame on player that didn’t want to extend contract.

Next season Milan will much more weaker.

  2. No one is asking whether he is motivated enough to play on a team coached by a limited tactician, managed by a team lacking ambitious moves?

Yea is is a professional and needs to show up every day for the millions he does receive but would he be such a limp duck on Pep’s team? Conte’s team? Carletto’s team?

    1. He is the same piece of sh*t in argubaly the best national team in the world. A former player. We should move on from this overrated lazy ass as soon as we can.

  3. I don’t blame Theo for lacking motivation. Owners have zero ambition, pay low salaries, hire mediocre coaches and now it looks like there won’t even be Champions League next season?! Theo knows he will be a started on any of the giga teams. Real, Barca, Bayern, City etc. He can have his pick which would increase his salary AND his chances for big trophies. Tbh I am surprised he didn’t leave earlier with our shitty strategy since Maldini was gone…
