AC Milan might make one final signing to complete the defensive department, and it could well be someone that Massimiliano Allegri knows well.

The regular use of a three-man defence to this point by Allegri means that Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Strahinja Pavlovic and Koni De Winter might not be enough. Zachary Athekame and Davide Bartesaghi are seen more as full-backs, so a final addition might arrive.

Demiral the latest idea

According to this morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via TuttoJuve), there is a chance that Merih Demiral leaves Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli before the window closes, the team that have been linked with a late move for Youssouf Fofana.

Not only that, but a return to Serie A could be on the cards for the former Sassuolo and Atalanta man. Milan consider him a good option to shore up their defence as per the paper, and could sign in the final days of the transfer window at a reasonable price.

This is because the Turkey international has less than 12 months on his contract, and thus he might be allowed to leave the Middle East if he were to express a desire to move back to Serie A.

  1. Fabrizio keeps reporting that City is trying to sell Manuel Akanji to Galatasaray for £15 mil. Looks like the player isn’t very fond of that option. Milan should try and get involved there

    1. Akanji would be a boost to Milan’s defense as he has high-level experience, but his salary could be a barrier.

    2. Agree – Akanji would be a smart signing, esp for only 15M

      Other option should be Kiwior

We have the $$$ so what is the hold up?

      Hard PASS on Demiral.

    3. read it too, he’s better version of Thiaw kind of CB,
how much his salary at City btw?
Gala usually gone crazy in contract & facility terms

  2. Nah, he was completely average after he was so hyped up during the course of his time in Serie A. Not exactly what we need.

  3. Hmm, well, I think it depends on what formation Allegri wants to play. If he wants to play with a back four, I don’t think a five-man defense is as essential as if he wants to try a back three…

I actually think very highly of Demiral. Like Pavlovic, he’s definitely a fighter. His Serie A experience is also an advantage. However, he may lack playing practice, as the Saudi league is not at the top level. But I don’t think you can go far wrong for a good price.
