Yesterday, it was suggested that Gerry Cardinale could sell a minority stake in AC Milan to the Ellison family. However, that may not be the case.
There has been a lot said in recent years about Cardinale, his stake in the club and his future, too. Indeed, suggestions of him selling a stake in the club are nothing new and it appears not to be a secret at this point.

A few years ago, he headed to Saudi Arabia seeking investment and this was only one of countless trips where he has attempted to gather interest in Milan. These reports have never been denied, whilst suggestions that he is looking for a complete sale always have been.
In other words, it looks rather likely that the American wants to get an injection of funds into the club from an international investor.
Denials arrive from America
The latest suggestion of this came yesterday, when it was reported that he could sell a minority stake in the club. In those reports, the Ellison family were named as interested suitors.
However, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) has denied these rumours, stating that things have filtered out from New York to suggest otherwise. Whether these are from RedBird’s side – as has previously been the case – or from the Ellison’s, is unknown.
However, it may suggest that the Ellison family’s involvement is not likely.

That’s a good thing
Ellison family is involved in tennis, and sailing. They have been wanting to get into team ownership but the rules in the US are strict. Their only alternative is Europe.
Since RedBird has been heavily involved in Ellison’s SkyDance acquiring Paramount and Warner Bros. it’s only logical that through Gerry, the Ellisons can get into sports through Milan.
They spin it as a minority stake, which is a way for the Ellisons to get their feet into Europe, but I think eventually Gerry would like them to take over.
I mean if you want an even worse version of the current “return on investment over anything else” then yes get in bed with the Ellisons.
