Despite the fact they were losing for most of the game, all that could really be heard at San Siro was the travelling Bari fans.
In case you missed the news, the Curva Sud announced that they would not be cheering during Milan’s first competitive game of the 2025-26 season, while the rest of the games are uncertain as well unless they get a response regarding new banners.

A lifeless San Siro
MilanNews describes the atmosphere in the Coppa Italia match as a ‘limp San Siro, devoid of verve and in theatrical mode’. The role of supporters ‘has been taken over by the institutions, which have imposed a new repressive climate inside the stadium, with the main focus on organised fans’.
San Siro in this state is ‘depressing’, a ‘funeral’ and ‘a silent church that only comes alive when goals are scored’, not befitting of the history of Italian football. The institutions that imposed the blacklists later applied by Milan imposed further bans, which led to the Curva protesting.
As per the report, there were PSG, Galatasaray, and other teams’ shirts in the Curva Sud and other sections of the stadium. One must question if this is what is wanted at home games. If the answer is yes, by virtue of this ‘police stadium’, then the very essence of the fan base will be completely distorted.
The ones who will pay the price will be the team and the coach, who will have to try to honour the Milan shirt as best they can inside a silent and clientelist cathedral.

Supporters who don’t support. You go Curva.
MilanNews have Curva Sud people writing articles now?
Milan band a bunch of criminals from entering the stadium, but lets call it a “police stadium” because of that.
No one is stopping Curva Sud from coming to the stadium and cheering. They are doing it on their own because they are not getting what they demand from the club.
Are they fans and supporters of the club or mercenaries?
Funny thing they were called that by Maldini towards the end of his career.
I remember when Maldini and the curva had their falling out. That’s why I can’t help but roll my eyes when they cite Maldini’s treatment as one of their complaints. I’m positive the curva jeered and hung banners disrespecting Maldini during his final match. These also are the same people who wanted to fire Maldini after his first season as SD
There are thousands of members in la Curva Sud. Maybe 1% is involved in criminal activities.
So this is what it looks like without the dedicated fans. Silence. Filled with tourists. Another sign of progress I guess.
What does the banning of chants and banners have to do with the criminality in the group? Why not ban those identified with criminal behavior vs banning songs and banners? How does banning songs and banners prevent criminal behavior anyway? I’m with Bart on this one. To say they’re all criminals is a bit ridiculous. The chanting and banners are iconic, and the atmosphere is completely stale without them. This is clearly a ploy by ownership to get rid of dissent under the guise of anti-mafia measures. I’m against mafia, criminal organizations, etc., they should definitely be taken out, but this is a cheap move by the club.
I think they are looking at the premier league in which a lot of the people in the stands are tourists and can get as much cash as possible. I get that they want to get as much money as possible But I really hope it doesn’t turn into the pl either it’s a very quiet and depressing compared to other leagues.
I usually agree with u Bart but I have to diverge here.
That same 1% is the leadership group, they’re then one to set the tone of the organization. To ignore that is like ignoring the fact that Gerry Cardinale is the head of our club and that it doesn’t matter. Yes, there might well be fans of the Curva that are well intentioned and innocently just want to cheer on/support. But they take their cue from their leader as with any organization, and those people (leaders) are criminals. There’s something called personal responsibility and they chose to associate themselves with a group led by criminals committing criminal activity including within the grounds of the club.
I once played football for a team who I later learnt were dealing illicit activities on the side so I had to make a choice, either to remain playing for them and be associated with their activities both on and off the pitch or I say to myself this is it for me as their actions can be misconstrued as my own. Personal responsibility! Because when articles come out about the Curva, EVERYONE gets painted in the same brush and you can’t go…hey but I’m innocent. That’s not how it works unfortunately.
Further to this, the Curva’s messaging has been wildly inconsistent for many years. First they claim to “not get into corporate choices”, then at the end of the transfer window praise the management and the best window in a decade until later on in the season changed tune when it was clear a trophy wasn’t coming. Said they “relentlessly support” the team but took away their support for the team before the second leg of Europa League tie vs Roma because they wanted a new coach for the NEXT season. Said they don’t tell fans what to do but they have told other fans to stay away and withdraw their support for the team…from the people who relentlessly support the team btw. I could make a ton of other times they have contradicted themselves and they look f.ool.sih every time doing so. And these are the ppl I’m supposed to suddenly get on board with? Like pick a lane and drive if you are going down that route of “making statements” beyond support. And here’s the thing, I actually agree largely with what they’ve said on a few occasions. But the problem has always been who’s saying it and how they present it. It’s like serving a steak dinner on a trash can, yes I’d like to have dinner but not like that. You dig? Not because we agree on the same topic means that we agree with each other. That’s the difference here.
They also come off as very self serving, self aggrandizing. If they’re a support/cheering mechanism, sure go ahead and cheer, make banners etc. People enjoy the spectacle and the club is known for that. Work with that, then whatever other more contentious things are being said, maybe others will be on their side. But you can’t claim relentless support, then not support the team AND ALSO want people to be on their side when making all these other more contentious statements. It don’t happen that way. Less is more.
Mmh that’s a deep debate. In this twisted world we can’t rely on personal responsibility. People need laws, rules and barriers. People also need protection.
In that case, people want to cheer their football team in an organised way, create bonds with fellow fans, etc. What do you expect people to do? Fight the mafia? Create their own organisation? I have many friends doing cocaine at parties, they don’t fabricate it themselves, they have to find dealers and therefore they finance drug wars and criminal organisations because there is no other way and personal responsibility would only be a barrier to their freedom of will. People would throw plastic bottles in the middle of Yellowstone or in the ocean. Guns are allowed in America and there are shootings all the time. And many more examples, anywhere in the world. In that case, la Curva, especially, it’s even different because we’re talking about a mob. Scholars have long defined the behaviour of a mob, since the French revolutions (Tarde, Le Bon), and it’s been used by marketing and PR for a century now. We know how the brain works and it’s not focused on personal responsibility.
And it can be divergent. Take the ownership. Fans would expect that if you acquire Milan, your personal responsibility is to make it shine. Well, Jerry’s personal responsibility is to take care of the money from his investors and focus on the value of the club, not football.
We’re talking about thousands of individuals, each with their own interpretation of freedom of will and personal responsibility. Anyway, the ownership has nothing to do with that mafia sht but we also know they won’t side with the fans as they consider them as mere consumers.
Fair enough Barts.
Now the one thing I’m keeping my eye on is how our club doesnt like to be criticized. It’s quite worrying in fact And I think that’s where the Curva should base their thesis. That and demonstrating they ALWAYS support/never withdraw it under any circumstances. Like I said, I do agree with what they’ve said on occasion. The packaging…
From the tv set the atmosphere seemed the same as most games…
Everyone here talking about Curva Sud as criminals has nothing to do with AC MILAN and are new fans or either Americans or Canadians with no clue what ULTRAS REPRESENT!!! Without the Curva Sud Ac Milan will be downgraded to a silent plastic Stadium with no soul and force. The ULTRAS live the life for the club since kids and die for it, and sing theyr soul out of it !! Who doesnt support them shall leave supporting AC Milan cause we dont need plastic fans here, go else where like Arsenal, City, Leipzig smth like that.
So if you support the club AC Milan first and not the criminals in the Curva you are a plastic fan? And if you support the Curva over the Club you are a true fan?
Curva Sud is one of the best in the world when it comes to singing and creating a fantastic atmosphere on the arena, but their behaviour as of late, because their criminal leaders and their criminal behaviour on and outside the arena have been under envestigation is shameful.
Protest the club owners outside Casa Milan as much as you want. Write and complain to the police for doing their Jobs. Boo the players if they have been complete sh*t and put in an awful perfeormance, but well on the arena when the game start you should always support the players. Its not their fault what is happening.
Sure you can do a protest here and there like walking in 15 minutes late, or not sing for 15 minutes to show you are unhappy with certain things. But for the rest of the game (and games) you should cheer for the players and support them the best you can. Its called “supporters” for a reason.
Ok Danny then you go and support. Make some new group. You joke with this comments. Curva is old almost like club,so without Curva you have cinema and enjoy at that situation. You realy think players play because like club? I dont see tbey tell i will play with smaller salary 😂😂
Only reason why Milan have results at past its because Curva and Berlusconi. Curva not support club because leaders, they not support because club politics this owners. So read first what they wrote then comment
Aww, the tempestuousness of youth. I love when locals think they get to decide who a “real” fan is and what that consists of. Thinking you get to decide who gets to be a fan and at what age they must become a fan is a joke. The American, Canadien, and Arab state countries wealth is what’s keeping Serie A afloat. Broadcasting rights, sponsorships, and marketing to the rest of the world is what will eventually allow Italian football to catchup with England, Spain, and Germany.
As far as the Curva Sud, maybe try not extorting hard-working fans for game tickets. As far as I’m concerned these criminals should be banned for life and their season tickets given to children or fixed income pensioners. While obviously the vast majority aren’t criminals they do support these people either financially or by just looking the other way and the sooner they’re run out the better.
Agree with you. Withoit support Curva Milan will be probably 10. Berlusconi was nice guy if we look at past 😂😂😂 So who realy like Milan will support Curva, who dont then you will see plastic game and probably some new club without soul.
THE CURVA SUD MADE HISTORY AND ME THIS MILAN GLORIUS IN TIMES WHERE IT WAS NOT KNOWN TO THE WORLD AS IT IS BY NOW!!!! and now wanna be Milan fans are calling them criminals and i dont know what else shame on you, you have nothing to do with the whole Ac Milan team and history so gently F off
Their leader sentenced to 10 years and had a charge of attempted murder.
Do not negotiate with terrorists!
You are idiot and what some scott doing here. F off at England boy
That is deserved with this owners and managment. Only idiot can support this club with those clowns.
Milan noy same clib what was at past. Its just club without idea, only profit important
Yep, show us what true fans you are and how terrible the 99% of the rest of the fans are. Or maybe have a head on your shoulders, make the current leadership of the Curva f off instead of exploiting you as a heard of sheep and replace those criminals with prominent figures of the Curva that have the best intentions and care for AC Milan, rather than their illegal profits from drugs and resold tickets. The rest of the fans will gladly support you and want to associate with you. The fact that you are a football club fanatic doesn’t necessarily make you a holy figure, you know.
I get that the Curva Sud has bad apples and the team wants to limit their influence/participation in Milan games. The question I have is why are the other 40,000 Milanistas so quiet? No one else knows the songs? No one else can make a banner? Why doesn’t the team create its own “fan club” and outfit them to get the crowd going? This just wouldn’t happen at an American Football game unless the fans were quiet because the team sucks!😀
Were there others getting a piece of the pie?
Gerryboys here think Curva are bad. Wait until they google Fossa dei Leoni.
If people are convicted of crime they should serve the time or pay the fine. It should by no means extent to a stadium unless its individuals who for example are being violent, racist or throwing fireworks at other people etc.
I don’t give a damn if some of them has mobster connections as long as they come to support the club and if some of them are caught in transgressions at the San Siro fine then give them a ban but people shouldn’t be punished twice and large groups of people shouldn’t pay for a few individuals sins either.
This ownership can go and blow a cars exhaust pipe for what I care.
Well said. What’s next? They ask what religion you believe in or support and deny access to the stadium based on “wrong” answers?
Thanks. I doubt they would go that far but but I nevertheless agrees to some extent as its profiling.
Well, there’s obviously a play for power here and it’s the Curva Sud leadership vs club ownership. One historically tries to extort the other for their own benefit. And don’t say maybe 1% of all ultras are not representative, when this 1% is on the top of the organization and the rest follow them blindly. I am pretty sure most of the guys would go to every match and support the team, but they need to comply with someone’s agenda. You can’t draw your support from key matches for several years, support the mercato and then complain about it a few months later… you are either there to support the players on the field or don’t go at all. The whole vibe they give is a toddler’s tantrum.
Not really my point here as its basic judicial practice if you have done your time or paid your fine then your wrongs are out of the world. You are just painting a picture of the Curva being complete drones when its a large group of individuals and even various groups just as we are all different on this blog. Well I don’t agree with everything they say or do either but there are simple principles in a society that rules though justice.
Anyways it will be a lot more boring atmosphere on the stadium without them but I guess its convenient for Cardinale in an attempt to stop the chants against him.
@RossoBG exactly that!
On point.
Thanks Ted
Yeah yeah yeah ‘funeral’ ‘depressing’ ‘silent church’ blah blah blah and whatevááá… well, what about the result? We won it, right? That’s what fvckin’ bloody matters. Neeext…
