In short, things could be worse as a Milan fan and that is something our most recent newsletter touched on as well. It was published today and one of the two main points focused on the now-certified shift in momentum in the big clash, following some tough years.

👊 Double trouble
What a feeling! I know that a lot of focus has been on the Scudetto in recent weeks, rather than the actual merits of the Derby della Madonnina, but boy does it feel good to be red and black these days. For the first time since 2011 (!), Milan have won both league derbies in a single season, which certainly isn’t something to sneeze at despite the situation in the standings.
Above all, at least to me, this win certified the fact that the Rossoneri have completely shifted the momentum in the big clash. Many like to talk about the six consecutive defeats as rock bottom, and rightfully so, but even before then there was a lack of confidence among the club and fans. Between 2017-18 and 2020-21, for example, there was only one league win in eight games.
If before any success felt like a fluke for Milan, that vibe has completely changed now, and that’s also why the importance of Sunday’s win extends beyond the current season. We will see what ends up happening in the title race, because it’s by no means a done deal yet, but I’m content knowing that the derby won’t just be heartache in the near future (hopefully, anyway).
