Dest ‘devastated’ after World Cup exit but praises his USA teammates – photo

By Isak Möller -

Sergino Dest was one of the key players for the United States as they made it to the round of 16 at the World Cup. They were beaten against the Netherlands and the Milan defender has now commented on the exit.

After a tough first few months at Milan, on loan from Barcelona, Dest managed to regain some confidence just before the World Cup and then had a good tournament. In fact, he was one of USA’s best players.

On his social media channels, he shared a message earlier today about the experience at the World Cup:

“Devastated.

As a group, we gave everything for our country but unfortunately we just came up short on the night. I’m really proud of the team and how we battled throughout the tournament. There is so much talent in this group and the majority of us are still young with lots of time to develop. In three and a half years time – Summer 2026, on home soil, we will be ready to make you all proud once again.

Thank you everyone for your support throughout the tournament, we felt it the whole way through,” he wrote.
