Di Canio states Milan are ‘getting used to decadence’: “Don’t happen at Inter and Napoli”

AC Milan find themselves in a difficult position, considering they are lagging behind in the Serie A rankings. With the Scudetto off the table, the Champions League is a must.

It has been a season of more downs than ups for Milan, and Sunday’s win against Parma was a fantastic summary of things so far. Despite getting the win in the end, which in the context of a season, maybe European qualification, for too much of the time, the Rossoneri were lacklustre, which again can be translated to the season as a whole.

Of course, the Parma game had moments of brilliance, and in the end, the Diavolo got what they needed. However, there were far too many things in the game that caused frustration. Once again, a familiar story.

Today, Paolo Di Canio slated Milan and the players for the game, and their season so far, stating the club are on a downward path, and Foot Italia have relayed his words.

“There’s no sense of ethics and work. These things don’t happen at Inter and Napoli. Is there no ban on going out? Oh, we’re talking about Milan, not some small-time club. A team with history, honour, and respect.

“We’re getting used to decadence. Everyone does it, they’re modern. It’s not like that, it doesn’t change the judgment on work ethic. Milan players go out. Inter players certainly don’t, because they’ve become serious. See if Napoli players go out now.

“You don’t hear these stories about Inter, and you don’t hear them about Napoli now. Things change, young people. Enough with this nonsense. See if Napoli players now go out on Friday nights until 2 AM. I have my own work ethic.

“How can any coach accept such a thing? Milan won against Como, and the next day they celebrated Emerson Royal’s birthday, two days before the Juventus match, with guests arriving at midnight, so I don’t think they went to bed early.

“Apart from the good taste of how they were dressed… Then two days before a decisive match, you go to Lazza’s concert? It’s serious, it means having no sense of respect, which should exist even in Serie C and Serie D. There’s a lack of work ethic and discipline, a sense of decency.”

    1. Where are they now? I think that’s part of his point. Conte would not tolerate that kind of BS. He’s put rules, and if they’re not followed you’re out. Simple. Meanwhile our “stars” are coddled because the club is afraid that if they get disciplined they’ll leave. A decision needs to be made: club above individual players, or individual players above club. That’s it.

      1. Conte has also never seen what the semis of a CL look like and the last QF he been to was over 10 years ago

Not to mention being kicked out from several clubs

but tell me more about how good he is just by his one season at Napoli.

  1. Media will continue to blow this out of proportion. What happened during the Lazio cooling break was a big problem. This isn’t.
What happened between Conceição and Calabria had nothing to do with a damn concert. If Sergio had a problem with it, he wouldn’t have started Calabria in the game, who BTW was one of the few players who actually looked fresh and ready to play.
Arguments between coaches and players happen often. It’s not a big deal.
Some clowns in the media attack Conceição for his behavior, but those are the same ones who are celebrating Conte for his lunacy on the sidelines. Wasn’t that same Conte that had a back and forth with Lautaro after a substitution while at inter? Gattuso and Bakayoko were exchanging “compliments” with each other during a game on the bench.
This things happen at every club, but the media has it in for Milan for few years now.

  2. Yes , they need to understand how to behave between every matches, this is true, but I think this happen every team 🙂🙃 and Napoli? After their wining season they finish in 10th place 😀 they definitely have party few times in month but nobody write about it …
