Di Lorenzo admits Napoli ‘would have gladly avoided’ Milan in UCL quarters

AC Milan and Napoli will square off in the Champions League quarter-finals and while both teams can consider it a good draw, both seemingly wanted a team from abroad. Napoli defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo has reiterated this.

One day prior to the draw, Milan captain Davide Calabria was asked about the draw and he stated that the Rossoneri wanted a team from abroad. Not that it’s necessarily easier, but because they face Inter and Napoli in the league anyway.

Speaking to La Repubblica, as cited by SempreMilan.it, Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo shared his thoughts on the draw. Just like Calabria, he stated that the Partenopei would have preferred to draw a team from abroad.

“Now we have three tough games against Milan in 17 days, including the one on April 2 in the league. I’m not making any predictions, we’re just sorry we drew an Italian team, we would have gladly avoided the Italian derby,” he stated.

The first leg will take place on April 12th, with Milan starting at home, and the return will be on April 18th. Benfica or Inter will be up next for the winner, meaning all three Italian teams are dreaming of the final.
