Di Marzio: Abraham-Saelemaekers swap getting closer as talks continue

AS Roma and AC Milan are getting close to agreeing on a swap deal that would see Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers switch clubs.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Roma and AC Milan have been holding positive talks with one another and believe that each club can do the other a favour late in the transfer window.

The Giallorossi have decided that Saelemaekers would give them a valuable option in the wide areas, especially given he seems willing to play as a full-back as well as a winger.

As for Milan, Fonseca would like another quality striker and Abraham has been singled out as the best option late in the transfer window.

The Englishman has struggled with injuries and would be a gamble in that regard, but he is clearly out of Roma’s plans given Eldor Shomurodov came off of the bench against Empoli when they needed a goal rather than Abraham.

Whilst there is a cooperation between the clubs for this deal, Roma are still hoping that they can beat Milan to the signing of Manu Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach given Milan need to sell Ismael Bennacer first before they are able to make a move for the Frenchman.

    1. That comparison couldn’t be any more lazy.
Origi highest goal scoring season in his career was 16/17 with whopping 11 goals scored all season long.
Abraham highest goal scoring season was 21/22 with 27 goals scored, playing for Roma.
No striker ever deserves to be compared to that bum Origi.

  1. Well… By default I always give a vote of confidence to any arriving player, even when I feel that it was bad deal – just like in Origi’s case, for instance. So let’s wait and see what Abraham can do for Milan, if he was really to join us.

  2. If truly Fonseca is the one requesting for Abraham, then I don’t think we’ll be in for a good ride.
I was already skeptical about his type of coach,,, all focus on nice soccer, fancy play and zero bite. Hoping he would prove me wrong

  3. What we should do to Roma is what other clubs (Atalanta) have done to us – DEFER the 10M to January – so Roma cannot use it to sign Konè from us.

That would be the smartest thing to do.

We all know if Benny isn’t sold this summer he will in January or next summer – so the smart thing to do would be to secure his replacement early – at a lower price – AND – prevent a direct competitor from getting him.

That would be the smartest tho g to do – BUT – we use a banker to run our football operations and we have God on the payroll but he’s too busy climbing the Alps and posting on instagram to give a $h*t. Well it’s Day 7 after all 🤡🤡🤡

  4. Hope this players exchange don’t backfires. The question is why would Roma wants to part away with Abraham and AC wants to get rid of a utility player Ike Saelemaekers ? Very bad decision. It looks like Milan are shooting blindly in the sky and whatever they hit is their priced trophy. Milan needs an All Italian management personnel with a heart for this great club.
