Di Marzio: Exit now imminent as Milan midfielder green lights Fiorentina move

By Oliver Fisher -

Yacine Adli is closing in on getting a move away from AC Milan after agreeing to join Fiorentina, according to a report.

Adli has been linked with an exit all summer given that he does not appear to be a part of Paulo Fonseca’s plans, after not being called up for the first two league games of the season.

A report from MilanNews journalist Pietro Mazzara yesterday claimed that Fiorentina are in talks with the Rossoneri management about a loan move with an obligation to buy for Adli, which would be set around €13-16m.

According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio, Adli has given the green light to join Fiorentina. The 23-year-old will undergo a medical soon ahead of joining La Viola, with the two clubs having already reached an agreement in principle.

It has been a difficult few weeks for Adli because if it were up to him he would stay and fight for a spot, but he risks not having the chance to because of the squad list regulations and because Fonseca appears adamant that he will not use him.

In recent weeks, several intermediaries have knocked on Milan’s door to ask about Adli’s situation, with a number of different Premier League and Ligue 1 clubs linked.

    1. RLC is another one of those deliverers what with all the goals he scored last season and the fact that he’s actually won stuff?

Seriously how do these opinions work around here?

Apparently if you’re an actual winner who has won stuff and scored goals then you’re derided, but if you’re someone who has arrived from some mid table team and never really delivered anything beyond nice touches, then you’re a fan favourite!

I think people prefer to live in their heads rather than on the actual pitch. This is why people are drawn to ‘ceilings’ and ‘growth’ and ‘potential’ and mostly new signings. Beats the mundane of reality.

RLC was one of the few of last season’s signings to actually deliver. People’s opinions of the goals he scored and their relative ease or importance or whatever excuses people want to come up with to downplay our players’ contributions, DON’T MATTER.

Goals are goals. We need them. And we shouldn’t be selling one of our main contributors from last season.

(Sorry for living on the past)

      1. Push and goal, that’s all he can do on his good day, but on day-to-day basis he’s 1dimensional and useless. nothing in defense even though he looks like a wwe wrestler, horrible at long and short passing, 0 creativity, 0 positioning, 0 in tackling…

Ricci is a great regista and sub for Bennacer, who doesn’t have anyone to replace him and also the Italian thing helps and Kone is better in defensive phase and can carry the ball just like RLC… and both have way higher ceiling than RLC who will stay as 1dimensional and useless as he is right now

      2. He was ‘solid’ last season – I never really understood the hype around an England call up but who am I to say. I have said all summer he definitely deserves a season to push on, but really needs to push on – the early signs aren’t good, but no one has played well yet to be fair.

He’s one of those players you look at and think “I don’t know what your best position is”. He’s an adequate 10, but he’s not really a 10. Especially with this high press, our 10 needs to be effective after we’ve lost the ball – sadly when I think about our problems in defensive transition, the player I see in my head is RLC.

Lets see if we go 433 and that helps him.

        1. Hence what I’m saying, our midfield was Tonali and Bennacer after Kessie left, Tonali was sold and never replaced and Bennacer was injured most of the season.

Musah is too raw to be a starter, hope being Fofana’s understudy helps him develop. Bennacer is our only regista. Reijnders isn’t being used as CAM with Fofana-Bennacer double pivot, which I think is our current best midfield formation. Liberalli and Zeroli are too young and as I said RLC is too one-dimensional.

No midfield, no control, which means Fonseca tactics are useless right now! We need 2 midfielders and ST but we aren’t doing anything.

      3. Maybe with more game time he will learn that not every pass has to be a key pass, and become more effective.

I won’t miss his football to be honest, but we should all miss his spirit. Best of luck to him.

      4. “RLC is another one of those deliverers what with all the goals he scored last season and the fact that he’s actually won stuff?”

Because you cannot earn minutes based on old merits. If that was the case Origi would be our starting CF. He’s won stuff. He’s a PROVEN CHAMPION!!!

        1. old merits?

How is last season old merits? That’s the only sample size you have to go buy which happens to be relevant…

          What are you talking about?

  1. This is all Maldini Massara with Pioli work.

For now, Gorlomi, Ibrahimovic, Fonseca and their boss, manage to bring players who have 1 point in 2 games.

  2. Sure let’s get rid of one of the few players with grinta and total dedication to the jersey. But yeah he’s not running as fast as Musah in the 40-yd dash, he’s not lifting as much as Loftus-Cheek in the bench press. I’m not saying he’s a key player but he’s good for depth, he has a profile that this team lacks and he wants to stay. I guess they’ll sign some American player or one of Zlatan’s sons to replace him. Or even Yazici the last gift. It’s Christmas already.

    1. What quality will you miss in him when he’s gone? Love of the colors doesn’t translate into goals or wins.

Of the positions he played last season, what was the one good thing he was good at?

  3. Sorry if this is a double post – the usual posting error..

Has he even been played in AM position for us? I can’t remember. Please refresh my memory.

What I remember was that he’s an AM in Bordeaux and did reasonably well although his team got relegated. And then suddenly he’s a DM for us – even transfermarkt listed him as DM now. There’s this obsession to turn him into some sort of Pirlo-esque figure, who dictates play with progressive passes from deeper end, but we don’t have the necessary Rino and Max to cover him. And let’s just say, Adli doesn’t react/send those passes as fast as Pirlo.

I like how he’s a beloved squad member and he always show the necessary grit and is actually close to the fans. I just wished that he would be more successful in his next endeavour.
