Massimiliano Allegri wanted AC Milan to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi last summer, but Giorgio Furlani had already signed all the documents for Samuele Ricci, according to a report.
Amid the success at the World Cup with Morocco, the fact that Milan had followed Bouaddi in the past has been highlighted a lot. Indeed, he was recommended to the club when Paulo Fonseca was the head coach, but a deal never materialised for various reasons.

Of course, these sorts of ‘transfer regrets’ tend to happen quite a lot as a club like Milan, with an extensive scouting department, is monitoring tons of talents every year. That said, it seems the Rossoneri were a bit more involved than usual this time.
Allegri asked for Bouaddi
As recalled by Gianluca Di Marzio on the TMW podcast, as transcribed by MilanNews, it wasn’t just Fonseca who asked Milan to make a move for the 18-year-old midfielder. Indeed, he could have arrived last summer.
“Last year, when Massimiliano Allegri prepared a list of reinforcements for Milan, Bouaddi’s name was on the list for midfield. Allegri and his scouting staff had already included the midfielder, now a World Cup star, in what he believed would be the midfield of the future.
“Bouaddi represented a great opportunity at the time, but Milan and Furlani had already signed Ricci for that position,” he stated.

I know for a fact this is true, and this is why Furlani is gone, he was way to involved into the weeds and acted sometimes on his own almost. I have to say preference of 🇮🇹 over non 🇮🇹 by majority of fans regardless of the quality and value does not help.
I am all for Italian players but only if the value they bring matches that
Could have, should have but Didn’t!!!, a story as old as time itself
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah Milan should stop signing Italian players and ignore UEFA’s homegrown rule and people here can pretend like Ricci is some sort of flop as well when he’s going to be an important player next season
I agree I feel Ricci and Jashari will play significant parts @ Milan, Allegri was not what Milan needed and perhaps Fonseca should have been given more time
There were discussions with Ricci in that 2024-2025 season, that’s why he was signed in 2025-2026. Are you seriously complaining because Milan kept their word?
I am happy that he didn’t come to Milan. He would have been in the futora team. We are not a good place for young players.
Ricci has been a complete flop…no amount of excuses will change that…not one good performance all season. A new season a new opportunity. Maybe there is a decent player in there somewhere, not seen him yet.
DiMarzio is such a clown, I swear.
if he was signed, he’ll end-up like Adli/ Bondo/ Musah
…Or Ricci and Jashari two absolute useless players.
