Di Marzio: Final answer imminent as Milan prepare to accelerate Fofana pursuit

By Isak Möller -

With France now knocked out of the Euros, AC Milan can start to focus on their No.1 target for the defensive midfield position, namely Youssouf Fofana. According to a report, the Rossoneri have initiated new contacts on that front.

Milan conceded a whopping 49 goals in Serie A last season and one of the main culprits was the lack of balance between midfield and defence. As such, one of the priorities this summer is to sign a defensive midfielder and the Rossoneri have seemingly found their man.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, they are now accelerating their pursuit of Monaco’s Fofana. They have put forward a proposal to the player and are now waiting for his response, knowing that he wanted to wait until after the Euros to decide.

Once they have obtained the consent of the 25-year-old, they will sit down with Monaco and reach an agreement on the price tag. Albeit not mentioned in the report, the feeling is that the price tag would be around €20m or slightly below.

Di Marzio also adds that Adrien Rabiot is a person of interest for Milan, as they even made a contract offer to him in recent weeks. The former Juventus man also wanted to wait until after the Euros to decide, so the situation should become clearer very soon.

    1. We will, I’m 99% convinced of it, but we need to wait till Newcastle have found a shiny new toy to play with. Next summer, or worst case the summer after.

It will be a 2 year loan with an option 😀

    What?
This will be another Moncada failure in the rise!
They said they had the players consent to come, and now they say they are waiting for his consent to speak to Monaco?
This is going to be one hell of a Seria-A season, Milan will need prayers.
