Di Marzio: Chaka Traore heading to Serie B club in deal worth €10m – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

Chaka Traore is expected to seal a deadline day loan move away from AC Milan with Palermo having agreed a deal, according to a report.

Traore had a fantastic start to 2024, scoring against Cagliari in the Coppa Italia and then against Empoli in the league, but the feeling is that he needs more guaranteed minutes to aid his development.

A number of different clubs were linked with a move for the Ivorian, but Di Marzio reports that it is Serie B side Palermo who have won the race to land him and should welcome him before the deadline.

The Rosanero have closed the purchase of the Ivorian on an initial loan deal with an option to buy set at €10m plus a 15% resale clause in favour of Milan. There is no mention of a buy-back in the report.

In recent days there had been strong interest in him from Lausanne in Switzerland and West Bromwich Albion in England, but in the end Palermo’s formula and pitch convinced the club and player.

Traorè arrived at Milan from Parma in August 2021 and became a key player for Ignazio Abate’s Primavera side before being promoted to the first team. Now, a new experience awaits.

  1. What? is he a secret gambler too?

Our youth sector is just a bargain chip, resale and capital gains factory. Really good deal from management. Pure class.

    Yippe yanks!

  2. But he’s good and key player for abate why he gets option to buy and not Romero? Chaka is better than Romero wtf this management disappoints me every day

    1. Relax

      1) Palermo spending 10 mil is very unlikely. Go look at their signing history for the past 5 years. I think the largest transfer was 4m.

      2) I would have preferred Traore stay too because I think he’s a strong player, but Milan need to generate revenue for purchases too.

This deal guarantees that if he does get bought, Milan make good money on a cheap purchase just 2 years ago.

If he doesn’t get purchased, he returns with hopefully many games under his belt and mgmt can decide what to do at that time as I’m sure his value will increase.

  3. OK this is clearly destroy the club mentality. They will buy useless second class players and sell our future stars instead of bringing them to the first team. What else Chaka, Simic needs to do to deserve the Milan team?

  4. I hate this management so much… why? Why put an option to buy in there? He’s one of our most promising young players, and we immediately lose him? Ridiculous, and he’ll probably end up scoring against us in a derby in 3 years time. Absolute circus management…
