AC Milan continue working on the transfer market, as the management look to reinforce the squad at Stefano Pioli’s disposal. One of the priorities of Paolo Maldini is to sign a central defender and many names are on the former Rossoneri captain’s wishlist.
Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic is widely believed to be the top target for the defensive department, but given the high asking price, other players are also in the running, for example, Matija Nastasic from Schalke 04 or Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer.
In the meantime, however, Sky Italia‘s Gianluca Di Marzio (vi milannews.it) provided an update on Milan’s strategy with regards to the central defender position.
According to the journalist, the Rossoneri do not want to rush to make a signing but want to take their time and wait for potential opportunities to emerge in the last week of the transfer market.
In this sense, Di Marzio mentioned the name of Antonio Rudiger, who could become an option for the club, seeing as Chelsea have opened up to a possible loan move for the German defender in the last couple of hours.
