Di Marzio: Como register interest in Milan outcast in search for full-back

AC Milan are looking to complete some outgoings before the window closes and Como have reportedly expressed an interest in Filippo Terracciano.

Como have been one of the most active clubs in this summer transfer window so far as they want to keep their place in Serie A after being somewhat of a fairytale story under head coach Cesc Fabregas so far.

As Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews) reports on his website, Como are beginning to look at other options for the right-back role having run into difficulties with Copenhagen in the negotiations over Diks, who they do not want to sell.

Fabregas has had contacts with Sergi Roberto, but it remains difficult for him to arrive because there is a lot of competition, which is why Filippo Terracciano and Mattia De Sciglio are the two other names in mind.

Terracciano was Milan’s only signing of the 2024 January transfer window as he arrived from Hellas Verona for around €4.5m, but he became somewhat of a forgotten man as he struggled to get regular minutes.

The 21-year-old can play on the right but also as a left-back, centre-back or even in midfield. He got some starts in preseason under Paolo Fonseca, but then the coach chose Alexis Saelemaekers at left-back for the season opener against Torino, showing he doesn’t trust Terracciano enough yet.

  1. Needs to go out on loan – registration spot or not, he’s looked like a liability on the pitch – clearly needs a run of games to get some confidence

    1. There was an article at some point last season that Milan would have ideally preferred that we had let him stay at Verona after we bought him but due to the injury crisis at that time he was brought in directly instead.
I agree a loan will do him some good and not really sure he currently classifies for the quota as he is still 21 years old so it shouldn’t be an issue to my understanding.

      1. Chả hiểu…. Hãy để Salad thể hiện… Kaka
Tera hãy ra đi nếu đội ngũ HLV và Lãnh đạo không biết sử dụng anh. Milan này không có bản sắc.

        1. Not sure if the google translate is doing it any service but terraciano was bought cheap at 4.5 mil and he is only 21 years old and his valuation isn’t higher today.
I’d say give him a year on loan and as he is a versatile player it should be an option to play a lot and have his value rise and then make the judgment next year whether to keep or sell him.

      2. For the UEFA squad list, new player from other club will always included in the List A, as he wont be eligible for List B players.

To qualify as List B player this season, you must be :
        – born after 1 January 2023
        – already at club for minimum of 2 uninterupted years, or three years with max 1 year loan.

So yes, player like Terraciano and Musah will be included in List A player (hence the homegrown rules applied for them)

In Serie A the registration rules is a bit different and I dont know much, but i guess its more lax than Uefa so if we follow uefa rules it will always comply to Serie A rule.

        1. Not sure any players are born after Jan 2023! I’m assuming it’s a typo…

Is it Jan 2003 ? Or a different date altogether?

        2. Sorry I initially missed your reply AR.
Well players need to play in a club or league for two years inbetween the age of 21 so that pretty much suggest that they wont count until the age of 22, thats at least how i percieve it and players will then have to be registred.
Players coming up throug your own ranks below that age wont have to be registred but wont count towards homegrown players in the quotas.

          1. No Bernard, in the uefa squad list its not like that.

For uefa list B, heres the complete explanation:

“A player may be registered on List B if he is born on, or after, 1 January 2003 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA – or for a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year. Players aged 16 may be submitted if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years without interruption.

Each club must include at least two goalkeepers on List A and at least three in total (List A and List B combined).

Clubs are entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season, but the list needs to be submitted no later than 24:00 CET the day before a match.”

You can read that easily if you search “UEFA squad list registration” and click the article under UEFA official site.

          2. So a player newly bought from another club will always get into List A – even though he is homegrown by other club in same country and is 16 y.o.

For example, if Madrid somehow buy Lamine Yamal, who is 16 and homegrown by Barca, he will still need to be registered in List A if Madrid wanted to play him at Champions League.

And if Real wanted to play Endrick, Guler at Champions League, he also need to be registered at List A.

          3. Think we are misunderstanding eachother because players below that age wont have to be registred and i also get that if you buy a player below that age they will have to be registred as you and the fifa piece points out but players below that age an is homegrown doesnt count towards the registration and taht is where the issue lies because if you doesnt live up to criterias you will lose a spot next year as well.
I get taht that those below 22 cant be used but they wont count towards the quota so its not like im wrong here.
Anyways thanks for posting the stuff very informative.

    2. Another brilliant Furlani signing at the January window that provided us with nothing and more importantly showed zero positive signs he may have a future with us

      Get rid of him
