Di Marzio: Fofana to Milan imminent after €25m package offer – ‘next few hours’ key

Youssouf Fofana is getting closer to becoming AC Milan’s fourth signing of the summer mercato as a deal with AS Monaco is very close, a report claims.

According to the latest update from Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri raised their offer on Wednesday 14 August and finally got very close to what Monaco are looking for, to the extent that only the final details need to be sorted out.

Geoffrey Moncada and co. raised the bid to €20m plus €5m in bonuses, with some of them easy to achieve and others more difficult. The directors are working out the final points of the deal with the Ligue 1 side, whose stance appears to have softened.

The player already has an agreement with the Rossoneri for a five-year contract (until 2029) and now it is only a matter of time before his transfer to Italy goes from soap opera a reality. The white smoke is expected in the next few hours and the green light for the medical examinations is awaited.

Last season in Ligue 1, Fofana made 32 appearances for Monaco, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He was identified as the No.1 midfield target some months ago, and was part of the France squad at the European Championship in Germany.
