Di Marzio: Fonseca ‘crazy’ about Roma forward but exit must occur first

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that new AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca is ‘crazy’ about Tammy Abraham and is desperate to have the Englishman in his squad.

Di Marzio was interviewed by Il Giornale (via Milan News) about the rest of Milan’s transfer market and it is clear that Fonseca really wants to see another striker come through the door.

Having now announced the signing of Emerson Royal, Milan are going to be focusing on signing a midfielder with Youssouf Fofana as the primary option.

Beyond that, a new striker is now viewed as more of a benefit rather than an absolute necessity. For that reason, Fonseca may not get his wish of signing the Roma forward who recently professed that he is focused on resurrecting his Giallorossi career after a long spell out injured.

Di Marzio explained that Abraham signing for Milan is very dependent on what Luka Jovic does in the final two weeks. A departure for the Serbian would massively boost Fonseca’s chances of getting Abraham.

There is the idea of including Jovic in a deal for Abraham, but Roma coach Daniele De Rossi is not thought to be interested.

Abraham was supposedly Fonseca’s first-choice before Alvaro Morata so there is clearly a huge amount of admiration there.
