Di Marzio: Fonseca pushes for Milan to sign Abraham – Fullkrug off the table

By Euan Burns -

Paulo Fonseca is pushing for AC Milan to sign Tammy Abraham from AS Roma this summer, especially now that Niclas Fullkrug is no longer an option.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the Portuguese coach would like another striker option for the new season and he thinks that Abraham is the best of the remaining linked names.

Alvaro Morata’s arrival was good news for Fonseca but he is still only left with the Spaniard and then Luka Jovic, and perhaps Francesco Camarda at points through the season.

He would understandably like another established goalscorer and many of the originally linked names have gone elsewhere. Fullkrug is set to sign for West Ham United in the Premier League, and Artem Dovbyk has landed at Rome Ciampino to sign for Roma.

The Ukrainian arriving at Roma means there is even more chance of the Giallorossi selling Abraham, and Fonseca wants his club to pounce.

The one problem for Milan and Fonseca is that they may need Jovic to leave the club before they can financially justify signing another striker.

If Milan struggle to have two quality strikers in the team, there is even more chance that Camarda will get first-team minutes through the season.

  1. All Italian line up plz

    GK: Tor
    RB: Calab
    CB: Gabb, Bartesaghi
    Lb: Terr
    MFs: Pobega, Gala, zeroli
    Cam: Liberali
    Fwds: Camad, Nasti

  2. I prefer Abraham to Fullkrug tbh. Don’t see the need of having two 30+ strikers. We endured that enough with Ibra and Giroud

  3. Posted this in the wrong spot:
I have a crazy theory, well maybe not that crazy and it’s that Fonseca wants Tammy but maybe he didn’t request Morata. I have a hunch that Morata was an opportunity signing (Furlani couldn’t resist the ol’ cheap release clause for value). It’s probably why we’re being linked to another striker in Abraham still. If that’s the case it’s going to be interesting to see who gets the spot 🍿

    1. Not furlani but ibra are the one push for morata ,he also convince morata. Maybe ibra feel this team need senior player like himself that have champion mentality.ACM only buy tammy if Roma allow loan with option to buy or roma accept counterpart like jovic or adili or calabria

    2. Either way, we could do worse than having Morata as the backup. I kind of like Tammy. To me he’s always seemed like an Osimhen-lite. I won’t be mad if Fonz wants him and we get him.

      1. Well kinda have to agree to disagree here but Morata’s stats are almost like for like with Giroud. No need to have another striker, we’ve already made our choice. Our offense is split between two wingers and a striker and it was the second best offense last year. Plus our subs output is some of the best in the league of not in Europe.
If you have two strikers of that caliber one will have to sit down and that’s going to be disruptive. If you split their time neither is going to be as effective as if it was just one main guy. And if u give one more time than the other then it’s obvious which one will suffer. I just don’t see the logic. Can’t see how Giroud’s 3000 minutes is going to split between two players?? (PS Morata has played more minutes on average than Giroud over the last 5 years or so)

  4. “The one problem for Milan and Fonseca is that they may need Jovic to leave the club before they can financially justify signing another striker.”

    completely contradicts

“Alvaro Morata’s arrival was good news for Fonseca but he is still only left with the Spaniard and then Luka Jovic, and perhaps Francesco Camarda at points through the season”

It’s either we’re short a striker or we’re not, irrespective of the finances. Because if we’re short at Morata and Jovic, we’ll still be short at Morata and Abraham if Jovic leaves.

  5. Pre knee injury I would be all over this signing and to be honest I still back it over all the other linked names especially if his injury is behind him and let’s not forget it was one injury albeit a serious one…that aside what I really wish was coming in the news was that Milan is talking with city and Alvarez is our mr x

  6. I prefer Jovic over Tammy.

But if we really need a striker, sign Pinamonti. He had a great last season. 12 goals, 2 assists. He will be cheap (10 million) as Sassuolo was relegated and makes more sense than a player in such poor form.

    1. What player is in such poor form?
      Tammy ?
He missed 90% of the season recovering from surgery. How is that a poor form?
