Di Marzio: Hummels rejects Bologna – Milan ‘could think about it’ under one condition

Mats Hummels is still without a club and he has rejected an offer from Bologna, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, while AC Milan cannot be ruled out as a destination.

According to Di Marzio (via Radio Rossonera), Hummels took some time to evaluate the offer from Bologna after leaving Borussia Dortmund but he eventually decided to respectfully decline it, implying he is looking for a different experience.

The Rossoblu were and are not the only team interested in Hummels. The journalist added that ‘in Italy there remains the timid interest of Roma’ given Daniele De Rossi’s admiration, even though the Giallorossi ‘have not yet made a concrete offer’ for the defender.

Milan ‘could think about it in case they had to sell another defender’ after the arrival of Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg, though at the moment things seem cooler on that front given Newcastle United have turned from Malick Thiaw to Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

Bild last month claimed that the Rossoneri are thinking of Hummels as an experienced reinforcement for the rearguard and as someone who could potentially replace Simon Kjaer, while La Repubblica stated just a few days ago that the German is very much still on the management’s radar.
