Di Marzio: Milan do not consider Fiorentina striker as top target ‘for various reasons’

Gianluca Di Marzio has downplayed the idea that Moise Kean is the chosen one in terms of striker targets for AC Milan.

Going into the summer window, it appears to be far from a secret that Milan are in the market for a new centre-forward. The lack of a true No.9 has been a real Achilles heel for the Rossoneri not just this season but for the past few years, and Massimiliano Allegri wants that fixing.

There have been several reports that Kean is a target. He has a €62m release clause that will allow Fiorentina to demand a high fee, even if it is an aspect the management believe they can work on.

However, Tuttosport recently spoke of concerns regarding his physical condition, suggesting that Milan could be heading for another Boniface or Mateta-esque pursuit.

Di Marzio downplays Kean links

The Sky journalist Di Marzio was a guest on the show Radio Firenze Viola and he was asked about the future of Kean, whose name has been in Milan’s orbit for several weeks now in view of the summer.

“We expect Kean to take us to the World Cup, and then he’ll definitely have a market. I haven’t found any evidence in all these rumours about AC Milan, so I don’t think he’s at the top of Milan’s list for various reasons,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Then we’ll see if other teams are interested, because he’s a highly valuable player. I think the Fiorentina of the future needs to start from solid foundations, and Kean could be one of them.”
