Di Marzio: Milan abandon Zaniolo pursuit due to Roma’s high requests

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have abandoned their pursuit of Nicolo Zaniolo, who had agreed to join the Rossoneri and also pushed to join the club. However, the demands of Roma were too high, a report claims.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara jumped at the opportunity of opening talks with Roma over Zaniolo. However, it quickly became clear to them that the Giallorossi wanted more than they could offer, with the price tag set at €30m+.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the €30m+ offer from Bournemouth that arrived earlier during the day only certified Roma’s requests. Milan have thus decided to pull out of the race and will not make an improved offer.

The Rossoneri will have to look elsewhere for a right-wing reinforcement and it seems Hakim Ziyech has come back into fashion. The Morrocan is still keen on leaving Chelsea and Milan are willing to sign him on loan (read more here).

  1. So Ziyech was on his way to Roma to replace Zaniolo. Now they cant go for Ziyech because they need to offload Zaniolo. Milan goes for Ziyech which means that Roma would be stuck with a player that doesnt want to be there…….Nice play by Milan!

Roma will now have to re-think their stance (unless Zaniolo agrees to go to Bournemouth).

My guess is that Roma will lower the request….

    time will tell

    1. For real, they know that we won’t overspend on him but the time is ticking for them. If he doesn’t accept the Bournemouth move they will be stuck with an angry player for the rest of the season while chasing top 4. It is a double edged knife for them

  2. Milan! Always looking for cheaper options. How do you build a squad of quality players when you always buy cheap items. We wait for summer deals, then, they tell us is till winter. Now winter has come, and still no deal yet. With time, the few quality ones will get tired of playing for the club, or being paid cheap. Man City can stand shoulder to shoulder with other european giants bcos of the quality of players they have. At 30 million euros for Zaniolo, it’s a cheap give-away. So, if Milan is not willing to pay that, they should go for their cheap buys

    1. Trust me we gonna start many seasons with them 😂 This Milan went from shopping in high end stores to shopping in charity shops . We missed out on Enzo Fernandez because they were being stingy like always

  3. 30 mil AND a resale percentage from a team fighting to stay in top flight?! For a perpetually injured player with TWO ACL injuries??? Twilight Zone!

  4. Now we understand we don’t have to spend exorbitantly! Roma will end up losing him for free if they don’t take Milan’s offer except he agrees to the Bournemouth move, then his career ends there like Wilshere
