Di Marzio: Milan can afford Donnarumma’s renewal as strategy emerges for the offer

By Isak Möller -

After making his 200th appearance against Sassuolo, Gigio Donnarumma wore the captain’s armband last night, putting in a great performance against Atalanta. AC Milan are now at work to renew his contract.

After yesterday’s clash, Gianluca Di Marzio was asked about the future of the 21-year-old, as cited by MilanNews.it. Donnarumma’s will has always been to stay and this was also the case when he renewed the contract three years ago.

Milan have the margins to reach an agreement, per the reporter, so that must be found with agent Mino Raiola. The economic offer will most likely use the current salary, €6m per year, as a base for the new deal.

Furthermore, the goalkeepers market seems blocked and Donnarumma wants to stay. The new deal could add at least one or perhaps two years to the contract, as the reporter concluded. Hopefully, an agreement will be reached quite soon between the parties.
