AC Milan have tabled their first contract offer for Manuel Akanji, who remains the primary target to bolster the defence before the window closes.

Milan need to add a centre-back to their squad, as requested by Max Allegri, and Akanji has been identified as the best solution. Not just for his quality and experience, but also the financial side of things as Man City are willing to accept around €15-17m.

Granted that Akanji isn’t exactly super young at the age of 30, he still has several years left in top football and Milan need someone like him in the three-man backline. Indeed, against Cremonese, a leader was definitely missing at the back.

First offer now made

According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan have now tabled a first contract offer for Akanji, after opening talks with Man City earlier on. Fabrizio Romano made it clear earlier today that an agreement with the English side won’t be a problem.

As such, which Di Marzio also points out, Akanji will have to provide an answer to Milan’s offer for the negotiations to proceed. Although the Rossoneri don’t have Champions League football, they can offer the Swiss international a protagonist role in the squad, which could be enticing.

For now, no credible alternatives have been pointed out by the media. Jakub Kiwior was mentioned earlier but his move to Porto is more or less confirmed.

    1. I think it is Gabbia’s place he is going to have.
      Tomori-Akanji-Pavlovic.

We need to replace them all.

  1. I think they offered 10-12 million to see what kinda reaction they will get from City

UEFA should allow us to do transfers across whole calendar year instead of Summer

  2. When you say he is fit to play with three stoppers, I would think he only played three stopper defenses, not 95% of the time with two stoppers. Those who are obsessed with the formation with 5 players, I will have to disappoint them. Milan will not play in that formation 😉

  3. Akanji and Rabiot are a must… for total of 30M we can get both, hopefully closer to 25M…

*(one is publicly been kicked out of the club while the other one robbed us…)

Nkunku is a done deal, while I also think Vlahovic the cherry on top…

      1. yeah most likely attack of Leao, Puli, Nkunku, Gimenez will be the thing this season. Tare said after Nkunku, main target is Akanji now and Dovbyk only comes if Santi leaves…

Jashari/Rabiot – Ricci/Fofana – Pulisic/Modric/RLC; this type of management of midfield would have made so much sense…

        now it’s most likely this:
        Jashari/Fofana – Modric/Ricci – Rabiot/RLC/Musah

Fofana plays better as deep-lying midfielder, Modric as CDM is left exposed a lot and not at his prime to run around like a madman nor does his build gives him strength to defend…

  4. Well done guys, wait until september to sign the 5th CB we have needed since summer began!

IDIOTS, we are run by IDIOTS

  5. Last minute signings happen all the time. All over Europe. Stop losing your minds guys. I think we will get Akanji done before Monday.

  6. Does anyone think this will actually happen??? LOL

You do realize we asked him to cut his salary and we have NO UCL football right????

Tottenham have entered the race AND they are in UCL AND they will pay him his salary and not ask him to take a pay cut

It would be shocking if this happened especially in less than 2 days

Always waiting for a bargain doesn’t pay off. Terrible

    1. It’s a possibility, it’s football anything can happen. I believe nkunku took a pay cut if remember correctly why cant he. I haven’t followed city, but maybe he’s not in contention anymore and who wants to join spurs willingly.

      1. Because nobody else was offering Nkunku. That’s why it happened or he risked another year on the bench.

Akanji has more options AND wants to play in UCL AND doesn’t want to take a salary cut. Akanji is still a solid player – Nkunku – who knows – he hasn’t done anything in years. Ya he’s talented but so was Joa Felix and that didn’t turn out well for us

That is why it won’t happen so late in the window.

        We wait and we LOSE

  7. So we’re getting a actually pretty good centerback and yeah hom and de Winter is an good pairing with Pavlovic in a three back it works

  8. Why do we think a CDM needs to to physical??? Pirlo wasnt , so does Busquet… Nowadays coach prefers a players who can hold dan ball well and have a good vision…it does not make sense for a player to win a ball back and give it away after winning it

  9. For many that don’t know, this guy is atrocious defensively. I don’t know why Milan wants with this easy quick fix
