Di Marzio: ‘Hours of concern’ at Milan as Florenzi suffers knee injury – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s pursuit of a new right-back might just have become more urgent after Alessandro Florenzi came off during last night’s win over Manchester City with a knee injury.

Di Marzio writes that there are ‘hours of concern’ at Milan regarding Florenzi’s condition. In the 40th minute of the game against City, Florenzi went down in considerable pain and it quickly became apparent it was a knee injury.

The condition of Florenzi’s right knee will be evaluated in the coming days but if the outcome is not positive, then Milan will find themselves with only Davide Calabria on the right side of the defence, in addition to Pierre Kalulu who can play there and youth options like Andrea Bakoune and Davide Bartesaghi.

The head coach Paulo Fonseca spoke at a press conference after the game and was asked about Florenzi’s injury, confirming that he will have a scan on it.

“I’m not sure about Florenzi’s injury. I spoke to the doctor and to him, but we have to wait to see the MRI,” he told Milan Reports (via MilanNews).

The worry is that it could be ligament damage of some kind, while Florenzi has already had two minor knee surgeries since he joined Milan.

  1. He had to sacrifice himself due to a misplaced backpass from columbo that ended in the feets of Haaland, it was pure bad luck and there is always a what if after a bad injury but thats the game.
I feel sorry for florenzi he was broken to tears probably because he knows his season is over.

  2. No RBs at all beside Calabria and Kalulu?

Both Terracciano and Jimenez are right footed and should play RB, not LB. Right footed LBs suck.

Moving a left footed Bartesaghi to RB and right footed Terracciano/Jimenez to LB instead of vice versa would be incredibly stupid.

    1. Playing Terracciano or Jimenez anywhere on the backline would be incredibly stupid, neither can defend to save their life.
I’d say neither should have ever been purchased because they are just nowhere near good enough.

    2. Bartesaghi used to be Theo’s deputy, and played well when given the opportunity, but Milan instead brought in Jimenez and Terraciano.

  3. Terracciano and Jimenez are decent; especially Jimenez who can support the offense. However they are both lousy in defense. I’m very worried about the defense. Not so much in the LB position because Theo is a bull and very rarely injured; the main concern regarding Theo is discipline; he is hotheaded and often collects Theo. But at RB, again Calabria was eaten for lunch by ManCity and was directly a culprit for their second goal; Tomori is again so mistake-prone!

We have enough offensive power. What we desperately need is a true DM, a RB and maybe not one, but two CBs.

Not in the slightest bit has it become more urgent. Unless management wants to ride on it
