Di Marzio: Milan submit first official Fofana bid – asking price is more than double

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have submitted their first official offer to Monaco for Youssouf Fofana but it is expected to fall well short of the asking price, a report claims.

Milan have been linked with a move for Fofana for weeks now but there has always been disagreement among the sources regarding how much his asking price really is.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that in the last few hours, Milan made their first official offer to Monaco for Fofana and it was worth €17m, but it will not be accepted.

The French club will not give the green light to let Fofana depart for a fee they consider to be much lower than the starting price that they have set, which is €35m.

This is despite the player only having one year left on his contract and showing no willingness to renew, something that is reflected in the fact that the Rossoneri have offered what they have.

The data does show that Fofana’s presence would add something that is missing in the Milan midfield, but as we have seen with the way this management does things they will not offer nor pay a price higher than what they believe is fair value.

  1. We won’t get Fofana, with Monaco’s unreasonable stance.

We need a freaking REAL CDM and the alternatives don’t seem to be it. If we don’t get a real DM, the success of our season is in jeopardy.

    1. Why is it unreasonable when they have 3 suitors for him?Just because your buddy jerry is empty pockets?
Fofana is just ready to shine,he has the age,the play everything is saying he is good to go for performance. These clowns called leaders are a f sad joke

      1. It is unreasonqble because none of the 3 suitors will pay anything close to 35 million and they will lose him for free. Who are the clowns then?

        1. Bottom line is because we WAITED – we allowed other teams to jump in which caused Monaco to rightfully raise the price. Had we made a strong offer straight away of 20M – he would already be wearing our shirt. It’s supply and demand. Will they get 35M? Who knows – BUT they will get more than the 17M we are offering that is for certain.

AND If the bids are low – Monaco can also just keep him and he can help them qualify for UCL – which would be worth more than a cheap offer.

We waited and now we are burned – yet again. Brilliant

We have a cheap and incompetent management team and ownership – that is a FACT – Embarassing for a club with our prestige and history.

        2. Depends what they achieve with him there. We looked like chumps when Kessie left for free but there’s a good arguement we wouldn’t have won the league if he’d been sold a year before. If he helps them qualify for UCL or progress to the late stages, it will be worth it for them.

    2. They sell him, they have to replace him and risk bot making Europe. With him they can secure at least 35 million next season. He is worth more leaving for free at the end of the year than leaving now at less than the price they quoted. We want him, it costs 35 million, if not, they won’t get him.

  2. How are we always dealing with these type of imbeciles, blame owner all you want but asking for a player that is in his final year the same amount as last year is crazy…

Keep Colombo and Saelemakers, get double pivot position stacked up, RLC only CAM (Reijnders, Bennacer cover for him if needed). Keep only Musah and upgrade both Adli and Pobega with Ricci and Bove/Rovella. This will create place for Saelemakers and Pulisic will play as N10 from time to time. Sell/Terminate Jovic.

Get Pavlovic and Kiwior, sell Thiaw to finance these 2 operations. Since the net expenditure should be minimal, put the rest of the money in ST and be done with it.

    1. I don’t see why it’s crazy – Monaco are on the edge of the UCL spots in France and if they think Fofana is the difference for them between qualifying or not, then it’s better business to keep him and lose him on a free.

    2. Rovella?
Bennacer isn’t injury prone enough, let’s double down and bring in Rovella to make him company in the recovery room.
Rovella, Bove, Ricci are all below average players and they play at teams of their level. Keep them there

        1. Milan needs a ready player to be a starter immediately, not someone who is raw, and they have to wait for a few years for him until he is ripe.

          1. Fofana is coming from another league so he’s not likely to be a starter immediately, he’ll need to adapt. Ricci is already established in Serie A. He’s been a starter for 2 seasons. He’s not raw, he’s ready.

  3. With our desperate need of him and time’s ticking, moreover other teams’ interest, we’re no longer have an upper hand for this deal.

  4. Of course, didn’t expect anything less from them. We went from moneyball to lowball in a span of one year under this ownership.

  5. ‘West Ham, on the other hand, have already matched Monaco’s valuation of €35m, l’Equipe report. In fact, the Hammers’ offer came in at roughly the same time as Milan’s.‘

    1. It´s a good test for the players loyalty. If Fofana wants Milan, then he´ll end up at Milan. If he wants money over Milan, then he will have a great career at Premier League title contenders West Ham.

  6. Monaco. Is. High.

They can keep smoking whatever they are on and lose him for free in 6mo’s. Milan make a pledge to sign him regardless.
