Di Marzio: Milan give up as Inter agree deal with Sassuolo for Frattesi – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

Inter have accelerated their pursuit of Davide Frattesi and now have a verbal agreement with Sassuolo, according to a report.

Gianluca Di Marzio writes that after Monday’s meeting with Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali, Inter have struck a deal with them and want to close in the next 24/48 hours so as not to lose their advantage.

Despite the strong interest from Milan and the attempt from Napoli, Inter are now ahead in the race for the 23-year-old and feel like they are almost there.

It will be a loan with an obligation to buy for €25m with young striker Samuele Mulattieri – valued at €8m by Inter – going the other way.

Milan met the Sassuolo management today but found that Inter had the advantage and therefore the margins for manoeuvre were limited. Napoli asked for information too, but Frattesi had already expressed his willingness to move to Inter.

Meanwhile, Mulattieri’s agent is now meeting with Sassuolo to define the details of the 22-year-old’s transfer, which is further proof that the deal is close.

  1. Hoooope…lessss.. False Hoope..Bla..Blaa..Blaaa And the Player Chose Inter👏, And Also Kamada🤣🤣 Dont Know Where we are Going to In Season 23/24

  2. A loan first? 25 mil of cash? Unknown player worth 8mil? Total of 33 mil value? Damn, hard to admit, but our management surely has lots to learn from them.

    1. I think you underestimate the will of the player. Of the player has chosen inter as his preference, then the clubs are free to find a deal that works. Had he chosen Milan there is no reason why we wouldn’t or couldn’t have struck a similar deal.

      1. Carnevali time and time again told the media that they valued Frattesi for 40 mil. No less and no more. And we know how strict they are in valuing their player. It’s their business style.

Inter bid was known for 35 mil plus that player (totalling 40 mil). Of course the player’s will played part. But to lower the deal to 30-33 mil of course needs an experienced negotiation skill from the counter party.

        1. You are not taking into account the fee inter has to pay for the first season he will be there on loan. It’s not a free loan

          1. Haven’t read about it being paid loan first. And it’s not an often practice to have an initial paid loan in obligation to buy scheme, contrary to the option to buy. Most of the times, the ‘initial fee’ revolves around the player salary. But let’s see.

Still a clever move, it’s a way to structurize the payment scheme.

          2. “Haven’t read about it being paid loan first. ”

LOL!!!! Why the F*** wouldn’t it be? 😀 😀 😀 Sassuolo just wants to hand out a player for free for a year and then 1 year later get money only for the purchase?

          3. “Sassuolo just wants to hand out a player for free for a year and then 1 year later get money only for the purchase?”

That’s why I stated it’s usually revolves around player’s salary. Don’t just cut out one’s sentence and left the others. So it’s not entirely ‘free’. Get it?

And are you new to football? It’s a common practice post FFP era. It’s to defer the payment so that it’s not recorded on current year’s book. You know Kessie? Locatelli? Both clubs got 2 years (yes 2 not 1) loan with obligation to buy. Both with no reported initial loan fee. Just few examples.

That’s why I said props to Inter’s management if the deal really goes thru like that. And I know you won’t even reply again if things don’t go your way, just like your behavior on other news in this web. Hit and run much?

      2. Sorry to say…but your expect too much from Milan management. We failed to sell Tonali for what he is worth and have also failed to get any other player where we face little competition from other teams. As it stands our summer has already been written. That is, we get the left over players other teams don’t rate. Now they can understand what it means to self sabotage, no player that have other options will want to come to Milan right now, based on what happened just after the season ended.

        1. You’re kidding? Tonali is a lovely guy and a good player but he is not an 80m player. No way. Frattesi is scoring goals for the senior side while Tonali plays for U-21. He also had superior stats to Tonali on a crap team last season.

          1. The thing is he isn’t an 80m player. 70m including add ons meaning werte probably only getting around 60m less what he have for Brescia. So maybe 50. We just got RLC for 30 of that which is nowhere near a legit upgrade and 20m for a mystery man

Btw Tonali is far better than Frattesi:

Tonali has better offensive overall stats (9 goal contribution vs 7 to Frattesi)

Tonali has better defensive: tackles, interceptions, dribbles, blocks
Frattesi has better defensive: aerial duels, clearances

Tonali has better offensive: key passes, less dispossession per game, less bad touches per game
Fratessi has better offensive: fouled per gm, shots per gm, and dribble per gm

Passing-wise….Tonali is better than him in ALL passing stats.

            Smh don’t write nonsense

          2. see i would have been ok with selling for 80 if we got a quality replacement like SMS for 40 and kamda on free but instead we’ll sign injury prone rlc and some guy from az alkmaar

      3. No reason??? LOL. How about Resbird won’t pay the asking price (35-40m) – ya that could be the reason LOLOLO. Quit dreaming bro. We are NOT spending 35-40M on ANY player. For the record glad we dodged this bullet. Frattesi at 35M is overrated.

    2. IM loan him 5m euro + obligation to buy 25m euro so basically thats 30m euro + academy player. That still have high risk like nainggolan case , they pay 30m euro + zaniolo and one more academy ,it turned out nainggolan flop & they need to pay for terminated nainggolan contract while zaniolo price rising rapidly. AC Milan focus on other priority ( source fabrizio romano ) probably reijnders & yunus musah

  3. It would be a shame if they sign Samardzic ahead of us.
    Couldn’t care less for Frattesi.
Frattesi is another track runner with very little technical skills. Fratessi is basically a poor man Tonali, but without being a Milan fan.

    1. Yes finally someone else sees the player I see. No one on Sassuolo is worth more that 20 period. Everyone can be on inters d*k about how they over pay for players just because they are Italian but I’m glad we’ve avoided another CDK type situation

      1. inter haven’t overpayed on anyone since they got poor. They essentially loaned lukaku to Chelsea for one season for 80m euros. Transfer fee was 110 and they’ll pay like 30 to get him back. They got onana and thuram free and dumfries for 13. It’s more like they’re scamming everyone

  4. He chose Inter? I am shocked, shocked! Well… not that shocked.

If only we’ve known he was an Interista before this whole ordeal.

  5. 33m is a bit much for Frattesi, not an extreme price by any means but still. However better than dropping that amount on a CDK.

  6. So inter won Frattesi, Thuram, Lukaku, Samardzic
    and the half-final CL.
and we won RLC… we are doomed as 4-5 place at the league table
that really sucks as a fan of the club that won the second most times the CL.

    1. No, Inter overpaid for Frattesi and Thuram because neither of them are worth anything close to what they are paying them. We are not even negotiating with Udinese about Samardzic, he is not our target (it was confirmed by Longo) and Lukaku, he is still a Chelsea player, not really sure what Inter has to do with that.

So you see Inter won nothing, they just wasted money.

      1. fratessi will get better trust me, and thuram is 6m per season plus growth decree which lowers the wages. 6m for 5 years is 30 million. Lets say we sign scamacca for 25 his wages for next 5 years will amount to around 15 million total. So 40 vs 30 while inter get the better player

        1. Bro the growth decree doesn’t lower the wages. Growth decree lower the tax paid alongside the wages.

So with Growth decree Inter will pay Thuram 6m wages + 1.3m tax, instead of 6m wage + 2.7m tax without growth decree.

And the growth decree will keep lessen the more year the contract is in.

So if in 2023/2024 the tax is 1.4m, the next season the tax will be 1.8, the next year will be increase again… until finaaly after 5 years the tax back to normal.

    2. “So inter won Frattesi, Thuram, Lukaku, Samardzic”

Lukaku, Samardzic Are you sure? Did Fabrizio report that?

  7. This was finished weeks ago. The “news” in the last few days was all just media bs. Milan have been focused on Reijnders and Musah as the primary targets for the midfield for long time now.

  8. So even when we have money, and Inter are skint, they still outbid us for players…this is basically embarrassing. James Horncastle on the podcast ‘Milan are the most fluid team in the market, Inter and Juve have no money and can’t do anything’

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Amazing how people always cite how poor Inter and Juve are yet somehow they always get it done

      1. Yes you’re probably right. Midfield scares me for next season…..I still have a hope we are lining up SMS…can’t see where else he goes.

  9. With hakan, asllani, miki and barella now add frattesi that’s inter midfield. And comparing it with ours I am speechless….realistically speaking so are we aiming for sudetto or 4th place I highly doubt both can be achieved….

    1. Asllani is yet to prove himself, Miki is old and inconsistent.. Calha? You mean another inconsistent player? Frattesi is yet, to prove himself in a big club.. Remember Correa?

      1. Those inter midfield still far superior than milan’s combined currently. They are replacing outgoing player with a better / promising player only,,

        1. I disagree. Brozovic is miles ahead Frattesi, it is not even close. Maybe in the future Frattesi will be a world beater, but currently he is not even better than the croatian

      2. mhik was excellent last season, asslani is not great but won’t play much. Calhanoglu is far better at inter than he was at milan.

    2. Yet with all their star midfield, they finished 3rd, just two points above us, that should tell you a lot that matches are not won on paper.

If we can sign a capable RW to complement Leao, and a dynamic AM and a good ball carrying CM, I can assure you we will end the season above them in the league. Promise.

  10. You can see Acmilan what we need is attacking midfield I said it let’s forget about frattasi we need someone like pulisic, kamanda, and samardzic this trio for no 10 then sign either chukwueze or Doku sell messias allow saelermakers to remain is important then sign Noah Okafor and bolauye Dia is just ok and Acmilan is just set for the season then we can sign either reminder or musah finished

  11. Who really wants to come to AC MILAN cricket club. Who wants to negotiate with Furlani, he is a previous Goldman Sachs banker.
Fratessi particularly likes Inter, there is 5 Italian players in starting line up.
We have one Italian player in starting 11.
    Maldini got fired, total casino.

  12. What I’m disappointed about most is the lack of Italian players in our starting 11 while Inter are building a strong Italian core for national team as well. It was always the other way around. And we are here overpaying for PL scrubs. Great project indeed.

    1. I feel the same. I like it when we have that strong Italian core. Maldini seemed to be looking at Baldazini, Parisi, Scalvini, Viti and the likes of Berardi, Retegui and Scamacca linked.

If they wanted to do moneyball…go Italian with it, T least partially

  13. It pains to see Milan taking an unknown direction just when we thought we’re back on track….
Also what worries is the way Milan are turning a blind eye on Italian talents and rather going for any other foreigners….

  14. Football has really lost taste….as a Milan fan (for over 20+ years), have never felt lost in the middle of nowhere before than what it feels now….even the banter era had something positive in it… right now well, I guess just have to be a neutral and just stare at what’s happening around…🙄

  15. The dream team of Furlani and Moncada does it again.

They’re just about to lose Samardzic, too.

Could you imagine selling the lynchpin of a midfield for a generation and replacing him with players from small Spanish and Dutch sides, missing out on all of the types of players a sensible person would assumed they sold Tonali to pursue.

Chelsea rejects and 26 year olds from AZ Alkmar…

We are not worthy to have the football operation lead by gentlemen of this stature.

  16. Dont worry ,he will become the next roberto gagli. Both have same position and shining in previous club before join IM
