Di Marzio: Milan handed blow as Atalanta secure signing of Chelsea full-back

AC Milan are not just looking to improve the squad by signing players this summer, but they also want to get rid of the outcasts. Andrea Conti is one of them, but the Rossoneri have been dealt a blow on that front.

Just last night, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Atalanta were considering a move for Conti, who once left them to join Milan. The reason behind that idea was Davide Zppacosta’s imminent move to Fiorentina.

However, the Bergamo side changed their strategy and decided to leapfrog Fiorentina in the pursuit of the Chelsea full-back. They offered to sign him on a permanent basis and thus secured the deal, whereas La Viola only offered a loan.

This also means that Atalanta won’t be making a move for Conti this summer, meaning Milan will have to find him another club before the window closes. It might not be easy, but it’s still doable.
