Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that AC Milan were one of the teams that were watching Mykhailo Mudryk closely, before he opted to join Chelsea.
It was confirmed by multiple sources including Sky yesterday that Chelsea have agreed a deal worth €100m with Shakhtar Donetsk for Mudryk, beating their London rivals Arsenal to his signature after Chelsea’s co-owner Behdad Eghbali and director of global transfers Paul Winstanley flew to Turkey to seal the operation.
Mudryk will undergo his medical today and should be at Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea play Crystal Palace this afternoon, with the Blues offering him a contract until 2030 as their incredible levels of spending continued.
Di Marzio spoke on Sky late last night and he gave some background on Mudryk, revealing that two clubs in Italy had their eye on him before eventually being priced out, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“Milan and Juve had paid attention to the player. Milan had Leao left, but they still needed 30-35 million cash, so it also took courage,” he said.
