Di Marzio: Milan ask about Hermoso during Madrid blitz – the details

After a dormant first couple of weeks AC Milan’s summer mercato seems to be moving at pace now, and Mario Hermoso is the latest name to emerge.

As Gianluca Di Marzio reports, Milan have completed the purchase of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid but that was not the only operation that the management works on during their trip.

In their ‘blitz’ on Wednesday in the Spanish capital, Giorgio Furlani sounded out the possibility of signing Hermoso, a defender who is available on a free transfer after he left Atletico following the expiration of his contract.

The Spanish centre-back is a profile that has also been taken into consideration in recent weeks by both Inter and Napoli but the Azzurri are currently blocked regarding incoming players after signing Alessandro Buongiorno and are waiting to sell someone.

Milan are still working on a deal to sign Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg, Di Marzio adds, which suggests that Hermoso might not just be a simple alternative target, especially given he would arrive on a free.

Hermoso, who is 29 years of age, spent five years with Los Rojiblancos and last season he made 45 appearances for them across all competitions, showing that he very much still had the faith of Diego Simeone.
