Di Marzio: Milan smile as Atalanta initiate contacts over Conti return – the situation

In addition to making a bunch of signings, Milan’s plan was also to offload some players this summer. Andrea Conti is one of them and a new destination has emerged for the right-back, who isn’t in the club’s project.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Atalanta have initiated contacts over a potential return for Conti. The right-back, of course, joined Milan from the Bergamo side back in 2017 but hasn’t exactly been a success since.

Due to Hans Hateboer’s injury, Atalanta want another player that can alternate with Joakim Maehle. Davide Zappacosta was their first-choice target but is now closing in on a move to Tuscan side Fiorentina.

Therefore, Atalanta are seriously evaluating the signing of Conti as it would most likely be a low-cost one. Milan obviously can’t demand too much just based on his performances and they also want to get rid of him this summer.
