Di Marzio: Milan identify Torino defender as alternative target to Dragusin

AC Milan have identified Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno as an alternative target to Genoa’s Radu Dragusin for the January transfer window, a report claims.

As has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri are looking at an array of centre-back targets this month and two names in Serie A are really standing out right now.

The primary target appears to be Dragusin from Genoa who has been impressive this season and garnered attention from Tottenham, Napoli and Bayern Munich.

Given that competition, Milan know that they need to have other targets and one of them seems to be Buongiorno at Torino, who is also having a very good campaign and has broken into the Italy setup.

Milan still need to talk to Torino and work out what sort of fee would be needed for that deal, but the interest appears to be genuine and he should be a cheaper option than Dragusin.

Another name from outside of Italy that has been linked with a move to Milan is Lilian Brassier who plays for Stade Brest, but the report claims that both Dragusin and Buongiorno are higher on the list of targets, although he may also be the easiest player to strike a deal for.

    1. But we are never gonna get him in winter. It’s just foolish to think otherwise unless we splash cash. And we won’t splash cash

  1. No need to buy a CB now. Kjaer & Gabbia starters for now, Simic on bench and Theo & Terracciano as backups. Thiaw won’t be away for long and after him Tomori will be back. Enough is enough. Unless they’ve already decided to sell Tomori and not renew Kjaer. And that would be idiotic as that would reshuffle the whole defensive-line for next year.

    1. @bb I think you’ve nailed it bro.

They’ll let kjaer leave on a free, and while Tomori has been excellent this season, through agents etc they’ve likely been sounded out suggesting English clubs are willing to bring him back to the PL for a high transfer fee (maybe 70mn+ ?) And if so are planning without him for next summer.

As the management showed this summer, they seem to want to sell one high profile name and use the funds to bring in several risky but potentially good value cheaper players. Not saying its the moneyball approach is the right decision but it does seem the path we’re going towards.

I’d bet either Theo, Thiaw or Tomori are going in summer which will leave an opening in defence to be filled.

  2. So they’ll have bunch of kids and newcommers running around in the backline with Theo and Calabria cleaning the mess. Calabria taking also all the blame as usual.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it happened. Same idea really worked out with midfield this season and Krunic the scapegoat for all the misery.
